๐ฅถWEATHER ALERT! Temperatures will get near or below freezing by Wednesday evening and continue into the weekend along with even colder wind chill temperatures in the teens. Keep your ENTIRE family safe and warm inside! Animal Care Officers will have ZERO tolerance for pets left outside without shelter.
HOW YOU CAN PREPARE:
- Keep ALL pets indoors, warm, and safe during the upcoming artic blast.
- Report all animal neglect cases by contacting 3-1-1 by phone or by submitting an online report at: saacs.info/311 (please include photos if possible). For those that live outside City of San Antonio limits (Bexar County), please contact Bexar County Animal Control directly at: 210-335-9000.
- Be kind to community cats. Take a few minutes to check your carโs exterior prior to turning it on. Gently tap on your carโs hood & tires as outdoor cats may use these areas as shelter.
- Check for your closest pet-friendly warming center (and spread awareness):
Normoyle Community Center 700 Culberson Ave, 78225
South Side Lions Senior Center 3303 Pecan Valley Drive, 78210
Garza Community Center 1450 Mira Vista, 78228
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
- Become an Emergency Foster Volunteer. Weโre expecting a high influx of pets entering our care in the upcoming days. We need emergency short-term volunteers to assist in housing shelter pets until Tuesday, 1/3/23. Weโll provide all necessary pet supplies. Emergency Foster Volunteers will need to provide proof of up-to-date vaccinations and spay/neuter for any current personal pets (dogs/cats). To sign up, please visit: saacs.info/emergencyvolunteer
- Donate. Our foster program resources are made possible through the kind donations of our community. At this time, weโre most in need of Large & XL dog kennels, dog chews, blankets and beds. Donations can be dropped off at our shelter, 4710 State Highway 151 or be made through our Amazon wishlist: saacs.info/fosterwishlist
REMINDERS:
ALL Texas dogs are protected by the Safe Outdoor Dogs Act and must not be tethered with any type of chain at any time.
Even through the holiday weekend, Animal Care Officers will be on patrol addressing potential violations. Please report possible animal ordinance violations by contacting 3-1-1 or report online at saacs.info/311.
