Trinity Theatre presents Shakespeare’s tragedy HAMLET, performing November 8 through 16, in the Stieren Theatre. This is the first time that Trinity Theatre is producing HAMLET, with an undergraduate cast of 29 students.

In this classic tale of treachery, murder, and succession, HAMLET begins with a prince’s vow to avenge his father and save Denmark from collapse and a looming war. With craft, caustic wit, and an “antic disposition,” Hamlet the Dane vies with dark forces for the soul of his kingdom, while his meditations on love, honor, and sacrifice make HAMLET Shakespeare’s most profound play, a moving exploration of grief and loss. HAMLET is directed by Dr. Stacey Connelly, with scenic design by Martha Peñaranda, costumes by Kellie Grengs, and lighting by Carlos R. Nine.

Fri/Sat/Wed/Thu performances begin at 7 pm. Our Nov. 10 Sunday matinee begins at 2:30 pm. Admission is free. Reservations can be made at https://tuhamlet.bpt.me

Trinity University’s Department of Human Communication and Theatre opens its 2024/25 season with THE THANKSGIVING PLAY by Larissa FastHorse, performing October 4 through 12, in the Attic Theatre. Premiering on Broadway in 2023, THE THANKSGIVING PLAY is a hilarious satire of white American liberalism.

A group of intensely PC teaching artists struggle to devise a Thanksgiving-themed play which is: a) historically accurate, b) honors Native American Heritage Month, and c) is appropriate for elementary school students. (Good luck.) Larissa FastHorse is the first known female Native American playwright to have a play produced on Broadway and she expertly skewers performative wokeness and satirizes American mythmaking in a play that will give us all something to be thankful about.

THE THANKSGIVING PLAY is directed by Dr. Nathan Stith, with scenic design by Martha Peñaranda, costumes by Kellie Grengs, and lighting by Carlos R. Nine.

THE THANKSGIVING PLAY is not appropriate for children under 16 years old.

Performances are Fri/Sat at 8 pm, Wed/Thu at 7 pm, and Sunday at 2:30 pm.

Admission is free. There are 60 seats per show in the Attic Theatre, with seating first come, first served. Reservations are not needed for this production.
