UPDATE
I’m SUPER excited to announce that the awards, plaques and letters of recognition given to Mr. & Mrs. Gs Homecooking and Pastries over the years for their service to the people & community of San Antonio will be donated to the San Antonio African American Community Archive & Museum.

Getting the legacy award was a huge big deal…. I started digging and reading while preparing for a speech and I found history and articles in magazines. I was wowed!
I recall an interview that I was preparing for and found articles that referred to the restaurant as iconic and legendary.

I’m happy that my dad and step mother, Addies hard work, accomplishments and dedication to others will be remembered and used to educate others. THE LEGACY CONTINUES. It was bittersweet to close the business… but as I said before, the legacy was far more than cooking, more than the building at 2222 South WW White Rd.
It was about William & Addie Garner and how THEY connected to San Antonians and grew a love for cooking into a business that would serve the community more than good food….they served love, hope, peace, comfort, conversation, laughs, donations, smiles, empathy, faith, belief and so so much more….
THEY will continue to be an example and lead the way and help future restauranteurs, African Americans and all people.…
The employees were also a valuable part of the success of Mr. & Mrs. Gs. Running the business the last year was certainly educating and motivating for me and my foodtruck business. I saw and learned alot.

What a Blessing, what a blessing, what a blessing…..The year couldn’t have started better. This is the best news in the world. They are smiling from heaven…..Thank You Lord
