WORKING WITH A WONDERFUL ORGANIZATION, information to come on their gala!!!

According to the National Center for Drug Abuse Statistics, 80% of prison inmates abuse drugs or alcohol. 26% of all arrests in America are related to drug offenses.
Meanwhile, the relentless and costly expansion of the U.S. penal system is the result of punitive policies intended to reduce public drug demand, but which frequently result in the confinement of addicted individuals, rather than high-level drug traffickers or manufacturers.
Bexar County Judge Al Alonso recognized this when he kept seeing the same drug and alcohol-addicted offenders come in and out of his court. That’s why, in September, 2001 – and despite much opposition – Judge Al Alonso chartered the first Drug Court in Bexar County. Judge Alonso’s Drug Court was an astounding success and has since given rise to several more Drug Courts in Bexar County:
Drug Courts in Bexar County
β€’ 2001: Camino Court (Adult Drug Court)
β€’ 2003: Family Drug Court
β€’ 2004: Felony Drug Court
β€’ 2008: Mental Health Court
β€’ 2009: Veterans Treatment Court
β€’ 2010: Felony Co-Occurring Disorder Court (CORE)
β€’ 2011: Felony Re-Entry Court
β€’ 2013: Treatment Recovery Accountability Court - D (DWI Court)
β€’ 2014: Esperanza Court
β€’ 2015: Felony DWI Court
β€’ 2017: Felony Veterans Treatment Court
β€’ 2020: Reflejo Court (Domestic Violence Court)
β€’ Juvenile Pre-Adjudication Drug Court
β€’ Juvenile Post-Adjudication Drug Court

Drug Courts, also known as Therapeutic Courts or Specialty Courts, replace incarceration with specialized treatment for drug and alcohol-addicted offenders. These courts reduce recidivism by 58%. As a result, US taxpayers save $6,000 for each graduate of these courts. The Therapeutic Justice Foundation, established by Judge Al Alonso in 2010, provides funding to those courts.
The Therapeutic Justice Foundation's mission is to provide financial support to the success of the Bexar County Therapeutic Courts and their participants. Examples of such support include, but are not limited to, Paying for UAs, Sober Housing, Recovery Monitoring Devices, Trauma Recognition Therapy, Bus Passes, an Emergency Food Bank, School Supplies, and Food Baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas. With our help, participants receive the treatment they need to overcome addiction, trauma, and crime.
