St. Joseph Catholic Church, "The Jewel in the Heart of San Antonio", is an historic San Antonian icon and true symbol of how Faith and Love cannot be bought or broken.
It’s cornerstone was laid in 1868 by German Catholic Immigrants who wanted to worship in their own language.
In 1945, a crisis arose when a local department store requested to purchase and demo the Church for its expansion program. The parishioners, however, voted unanimously not to sell their cherished Church. Because of this, the small but mighty little cathedral stands today as a testament of Faith, Love and Perseverance.
