What an awesome Day 1 of Fiesta Jazz Festival!

We start again at 8am with our Middle and High School Band Festival!

For those who may have missed it! We are indoors this year due to construction adjacent to Pecan Grove. The new St. Mary's University Innovation Center, School of Nursing is almost complete so our goal is to be back outdoors in 2025. Don't let that stop you this year though. Lots of talented young musicians and great music to be had throughout the day. It's FREE. See you tomorrow!

Fiesta Jazz Band Festival is locked in and ready for you to join us. TWO Stages...Saturday, April 27th starting at 8:00 a.m. showcases up and coming talent from middle school and high school big bands and combos. We invite you to come support jazz education and the future musicians of this incredible genre of music. Alyssa Allgood Quartet will host a clinic at 12 noon. You don't want to miss it!

Starbucks on campus opens at 7:15 a.m. and the Diamondback Cafe opens at 9:00 a.m. for full hot breakfast buffet. Chick-fil-A joins the party at 10:00 a.m. We've got you covered. See you soon!

Headlining on Friday, April 26, is the Alyssa Allgood Quartet, bringing their smooth jazz vibes to the Tom and Mona Mengler Conference Room, previously known as Conference Room A, transforming into the Gold and Blue Note Jazz Club for this special occasion.

The Fiesta Jazz Festival offers a unique educational and musical performance experience for over 500 middle school, high school and college jazz student performers from across the state.

This is an official free Fiesta event for Fiesta attendees and the San Antonio community.

The Fiesta Jazz Festival is one of Texas' oldest events presenting the finest in jazz.

Fiesta Jazz Festival is Friday, April 26th, 1 - 10 PM, and Saturday, April 27th, 8 AM - 6 PM, at St. Mary's University (One Camino Santa Maria).

I am honored and excited to announce that I have been appointed the Executive Artistic Director of SFJAZZ. This amazing and historic institution has strengthened jazz, America’s greatest art form. In this position, I will lead the organization’s artistic programming and guide its overall creative direction. I look forward to collaborating with the staff while bringing my own ideas on moving the music forward and continuing the SFJAZZ mission to explore the full spectrum of jazz—from its origins to its diverse and evolving expressions around the world today. I cannot wait to continue this journey.

I would like to thank and recognize SFJAZZ Founder Randall Kline, whose visionary zeal for jazz fortified the art form in San Francisco and worldwide.

I am joining SFJAZZ as it celebrates its 40th Anniversary and the 10th Birthday of the award-winning SFJAZZ Center and as it prepares for the 40th San Francisco Jazz Festival starting June 7, with 42 concerts in 12 days, and the 2023-2024 season beginning September 7.
