It’s still the month of love, and it’s coldddd across the country. Let’s be decadent, warm and kind to each other. Let’s make food together. Let’s have brunch on a weekday! Let’s indulge. Chocolate Waffles from scratch?! For your friends, for your partner, for yourself? You can do it! Make them. Top them with marshmallow fluff because life is too short. Brûlée it if you’re feeling crazy. Add chocolate syrup because duh. For the perfect batter: see below! It can also be easy, mix it all up and drop it in your waffle maker. Serve with love. 💕🍫

1½ cups all-purpose flour (the best is for the fluffiest waffles!)
½ cup white sugar
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
3 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
2 large eggs
4 tablespoons butter, melted

Oh my goodness, is SO fun. We tried the most popular flavor, Mix Sour Grapes from Sprouts! Suuuuuper sour. I’m going to pick up another bag and make my foodie friends do a challenge! Delicious but eeeeee my mouth is watering thinking about them. 😂

Only the best for my funny Valentine! This past weekend Diego got the royal treatment, breakfast in bed! My dog is as much a foodie as I am and he we love him so much that he only gets the best and most nutritious meals! Chicken is his favorite, and I’m so glad he gets his veggies in with delicious yams.

For cold winter days and holidays I’ve been making this from scratch mac and cheese recipe for yearsssss (about 18 to be exact! Ew, I’m old!) and always get asked for my secret. The absolute essential thing about this recipe (and most) are quality ingredients! And most importantly here, incredible cheese. Skip the ultra-processed cheese and opt for an incredible raw cheddar. This is pre-shedded cheddar is grass-grazed and 60 days aged! You can find it at and you won’t be sad about it! I always measure with my heart, but I’d say this recipe serves 10 very hungry people, or even more people if they’re not so hungry. Though I’d say, it’s safe to say if it’s not Thanksgiving or some kind of party, half this recipe and you’ll still have some leftovers!

RECIPE
🧀 16 oz cheddar
🧈 4 tablespoons butter
🌾 4 tablespoons flour
🥛 1 pint of whole milk
🍯 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
🥫 2 teaspoons tomato paste (yes, really!)

You’re gonna make a roux. This seems really weird and scary, but you’re going to melt your butter and cook it for about 10 minutes on the stovetop on low with equal parts flour until it’s golden brown. This is the foundation for so much southern (and French!) cooking. You’re welcome. You now know how to make the base so many sauces. Add in your milk a bit at the time until it forms a lovely velvety gravy (with no lumps!) and then add in your cheese a handful at a time. The Dijon gives it a kick and the tomato paste lends umami ( uses this tomato paste trick, so obviously you should too.) Salt and pepper with your heart and your taste buds— you’re not a heathen! Once you master this, you can add other fun things like green chili or bacon, or buffalo sauce. Have fun with cooking, duh!

Mandarin Barbecue Salmon recipe! It’s a wonderful umami bomb sheet pan recipe you need to make ASAP. ✨

In this recipe, I use , a family-owned company who brings the fresh flavors of Japanese-American cuisine to your kitchen. I found their delicious barbecue sauce at my local — a store who is doing the most to keep diverse companies and flavors on its shelves!

RECIPE
🍣 two portions salmon filets
🫙 1/4 cup Bachan’s Japanese bbq sauce
🍊 juice of one clementine, plus clementine slices for roasting
🧂 sprinkle of furikake

Mix Bachan’s and clementine juice and coat both portions of salmon. Allow to marinate in the fridge for one hour, or up to five hours.

Preheat oven to 400. Place salmon in an oven-safe baking sheet or dish and sprinkle with furikake, roast for 13 minutes or until desired doneness! (I like my salmon medium-rare, but whatever you like is fine! Cook more or less time!)

I found Sofrito on the shelf at my local Whole Foods and knew it would make one of my signature recipes easier and better! I’ve been making this Green Chicken Chili for years, and usually it’s pretty labor intensive.

I love the bold flavors, clean Ingredients
and the fact that my prep time is cut in half! The classic Sofrito I use here in this recipe is a blend of fresh veggies including, peppers and onions and lots of herbs! It’s really as easy as combining all this ingredients and letting them soak up flavor in the pot! Full recipe at my link in bio! 🫑

Here’s a little what’s in my bag, road trip essentials edition! Heading out to West Texas this weekend for a fun photo gig, then back to Austin, then out to Round Top for a belated birthday celebration! This weekend is going to be busyyyyy. Andddd I’ll be on the road for a total of 13ish hours. Long Texas roads. Eep!

If you know me well, I don’t/can’t drink coffee because it gives me major jitters and anxiety, so thank the stars for ! It’s all natural, clean caffeine and comes in super delicious flavors. More focus means less stress, means way more fun when I arrive at the destination not exhausted!

💕 Galentine’s Appetizer recipe idea: Chicken Liver Toast!

If you’re looking for an easy appetizer that’s still beautiful, in this recipe I take farm fresh ingredients and layer their delicate flavors to make something impressive. Here, presentation is everything! While the microgreens are necessary to make a gorgeous garnish, they’re also actually packed with nutrients and bright flavor to counteract the sweetness and richness of the other ingredients at play.

Bonus, swipe to see how microgreens are also perfect for elevating the look of so many other dishes, including charcuterie boards, which in my opinion, are a Galentine’s necessity! 🌱

It’s citrus season, which means lemons are in their prime and lending some bright flavor to these gloomy days! Last winter I partnered with and made these Little Lemon Bars from their Cooking with Color Cookbook. If you’re hiding inside from the cold, this recipe is an easy and delicious one that will lift your spirits! Scroll down in my feed to see the how-to video! 💛

FOR THE CRUST
½ cup (1 stick) butter, melted
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

FOR THE FILLING
1 cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 large eggs
½ cup lemon juice (from 2 lemons)

FOR THE TOPPING
½ cup powdered sugar
Yellow gel or powdered food coloring

Heat oven to 325°F. Line the bottom and sides of a 9x9-inch glass or ceramic baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.

For the crust: In a medium bowl, combine the butter, sugar, vanilla, and salt; stir until thoroughly combined. Add the flour and stir until well mixed. Press firmly and evenly into the bottom of the pan, making sure to get in the corners. Bake until the edges are lightly browned, about 20 minutes.

For the filling: While the crust bakes, make the filling. In a large bowl, sift the sugar and flour together. Whisk in the eggs and lemon juice until completely combined.
Poke holes all over the top (but not all the way through) the partially baked crust. Pour the filling over the warm crust. Bake until the center is set and no longer jiggles, 22 to 25 minutes.

Remove from oven and let cool completely on a wire rack, about 2 hours. Chill in the refrigerator for no less than 2 hours and cut into bite-sized squares. Top with a raspberry for an extra pop of color!
