Designing rehearsal dinners is a special treat. It’s an opportunity to have a completely different and maybe a little unexpected color palate than the wedding day. Love this tumeric, plum, and lavender design we did at to play off the red rocks of Sedona.

When to cut the cake? Just like everything in the timeline, the cake cutting is intentionally and thoughtfully placed to flow in the evening.

So when’s the perfect moment? Ideally 45 minutes after the dance floor opens. That gives the DJ or band a great first dance set to get the party going before we interrupt dancing, it gives your photographers & videographers enough time to capture some great dance floor content, and it gets the bride and groom loosened up enough to have FUN with the cake cutting. Stiff cake cutting photos are the worst! Feed each other with your fingers, play, laugh, dance, cheers (I always place two glasses of champagne or signature cocktails on the cake table).

Then after the cake cutting, photo and video can say good night since no one needs 3 hours of dance floor photos. 🤣
