So 2020 was a tough year, and 2021 has been equally bumpy with it's own unique set of challenges. Many of us have either lost loved ones to Covid-19, or know someone close who has, or have endured some other very difficult life trials during this already turbulent time.

Residing already on the Mexico side of the Baja International Border in Playas de TJ, I decided to venture in much deeper to do some soul searching, like way down the rabbit hole! So I embarked on a wicked-long WiLd & ZaNy Ayahuasca journey to search for my Spirit Animal
(which turned out to be a sloth of all things..... 🤔🤔🤔) as well as my culinary Purpose on this Great & Mysterious Planet we call Earth! That purpose is to work towards leaving no person starving in the world (I'll touch on this in a follow-up post...) and to intrigue, inspire and emotionally overwhelm your palate with my sensual, finely nuanced and often fun and interactive dining experiences while doing it!

IN OTHER NEWS: Do you know a family who is the need of assistance with food and household commodities? It is still a very difficult and turbulent time, with COVID-19 fears and the damaged economies that have ensued from the measures that have been taken due to the threat. In the spirit of Easter, we are offering to assist families with weekly food deliveries to their household as well as other household items, such as sanitation, hygiene and other common necessities during this difficult time. This offer is only applicable to residents in the San Diego, CA city limits and the Tijuana, MX municipality. We will do what we can, but are not deep pocketed by any means :( , and are limited to 5 families and/or 35 total people per week, and deliveries are to be made ONLY ON WEDSNESDAY at the moment.

Many people (mostly my ex-girlfriends) would say "Daniel, you can't even help yourself! How in the hell are you going to help other people?!?!"

That is a great question. There is no punchline, and I do not have an answer to that question, but I am sure as hell going to try and help others anyways!

Leaving Los Angeles after a very special little, but very big milestone 70th Birthday Bonanza Dinner for Mr. Peter and his lovely wife Anne. Some very intelligent, intellectuals, well-travelled environmentalists and just awesome people. And get this.. this 2 top wanted to make sure the trip was worth my while and told all of her friends. She is a woman of her word I tell you what, at about 7:50 AM the next morning after she booked with me, her friend books a party of 4, and yesterday afternoon, Day 2, her neighbor orders a plentiful dropoff of 2 of my new Scallop and Zucchini Duo plates, 2 Southwestern Cocoa Rubbed Pork Tenderloins with cherry habanero buerre blanc and star anise blood orange kimchee and 2 of the Citrus Roasted Beet Salads (this is a no brainer- see 2021 World Tour Menu at www.kitchenalchemycatering.com/menus.html). Now I am stuck behind this train at 2 am, but I was lost and now I am not, and I am going back to San Diego. See you soon Los Angeles! It's been a while but I will see you soon, very soon in fact! ***This is a self-sustaining employment offer in which you set your own schedule. You can make a very healthy living for yourself, easily $65k plus as a sous chef if you are strong and personable with our private clients; honestly more than you will ever make in the restaurant industry with much less physical and mental stress, BUT IT STILL REQUIRES INCREDIBLE ATTENTION TO DETAIL! YOU are your own boss, and YOU will make or break yourself very quickly.

This is a 1099 Contractor Position. You must have your own reliable transportation and minimum 10 years restaurant experience and minimum of 5 years experience as a CHEF in the private sector, e.g. private parties, estates, catering, corporate events, etc. You don't have to have experience owning your own company or as am Executive Chef, but minimum 2 years as a Sous Chef or equivalent supervisory role would be strongly preferred, but I am also more than happy to train a hungry and eager deserving candidate.

This is also very much a sales position. I will feed you booked parties often, but sometimes we will have so many calls that I will be feeding you leads and contact info, and you will be expected to contact the client and use your menu knowledge and salesmanship to close deals and book events. The way it works is Kitchen Alchemy takes a 14% commission off the top, which is an industry low (look it up! generally 18% and upwards!) and that goes towards advertising, menu development time, and of course: my profit! What the hell? You think I'm scaling my business for s**ts and giggles?!?! This s**t is stressful as hell, damn right I am going to make money off of your skills! But you know who will make a lot more money off your skills? You, that's who...and your guests will be so grateful for what you do! Just wait and see! It's a very rewarding experience.

Also I will be there for you every step of the way and am always available for educational needs, questions, our initial training program, and culinary questions. I insist on regular collaboration with my chefs as well so we are all playing on a cohesive note. We play together, we learn together, and we push together.
