🐣 Far from Easter bunnies and chocolate eggs, Easter in the French Caribbean means… crab.
In Martinique and Guadeloupe, Easter Monday is all about gathering with family and sharing traditional crab dishes:

📜 But the story runs deeper.
During slavery, the Church imposed Lent and banned meat.
Enslaved people turned to what they could find: land crab — humble, available, and full of flavor.
After emancipation, crab was set aside for a time.
But in 1884, Easter Monday became a public holiday and the dish came back as a way to celebrate and remember.
🦀 Today, it’s more than a meal. It’s a family tradition. A dish that tells a story of history, resilience, and togetherness.
