As we get older, life seems to gather speed. We promise each other “We need to do lunch soon!” with such genuine hope—and then the days slip past, turning into months, even years.
Last week, though, time finally stood still for a moment. It was our dear friend Denise’s milestone birthday, and we got to celebrate her with a surprise party filled with so much love. Then on Sunday, July 13th, my sister and I took her out for brunch at Stone Brewing at Liberty Station. Somehow, in all these years, we’d never just sat down to lunch like that together—and it was perfect.
It was one of those days that feels like a gift: easy conversation, so many laughs, good food and drinks, and a slow wander through Liberty Station afterward. At one of the vendor stalls, Denise picked up a peach-scented candle and she showed it to Kristina because it smelled so good. Without missing a beat, Kristina bought it and handed it right back to her. The surprise and delight on Denise’s face was absolutely priceless!
We just wanted her to have a truly beautiful day—because she deserves that and so much more. She’s the kind of person who’s always thinking of others, always giving, always kind. She deserved to feel cherished too.
Happy Birthday, Denise. We love you dearly. You’ll always be family. 💛
