Oscar will unveil his final project—a sculptural legacy map of the San Diego Promise Zone—along with community art, storytelling, live music, a fashion show, food, and drinks.

Volunteer Opportunity: Assist Our Resident Artist, Oscar Romo ✨
Oscar Romo, our current resident artist, is seeking a volunteer to assist in the creation of his residency art piece, a large multi media mosaic map. You'll have the unique opportunity to contribute to the mosaic portion of this work, gaining hands-on experience in assembling an original piece of art. 🖌️
This is a fantastic chance to learn valuable tools and techniques directly from an acclaimed artist and educator. Oscar is looking for someone who may be available to work with him for a few hours over several days to help bring this important project to life.

We are thrilled to announce our first selected artist for the My Creative Journey | Mi Viaje Creativo residency series: Oscar Romo @oscarromoart! 🙌
Oscar Romo is an exemplary addition to our program. With a background in architecture, urban planning, social housing, and computer science, Oscar's work beautifully intertwines scientific discoveries and environmental challenges through his academic research and artistic expression. He is a highly respected educator and professor, most recently teaching at the University of California, San Diego, and has been dedicated to various community initiatives in the Tijuana and San Diego regions for the past 30 years.
We are honored to host Oscar's residency at the Factory from July to September 2024. Stay tuned for more information on his community events and office hours, which we will share next week.
