While I love my non-traditional weddings, this one is by FAR my biggest exception. Traditional does NOT have to be synonymous to boring! Marlene and Frank had the most beautiful and bold wedding with countless traditions brought in from their Mexican heritage. Every single detail was absolutely breathtaking. We need more of this! 🖤✨

Looking for some less common ways to make your event more unique and custom? 🖤✨

First: MUSIC. So I feel like this one gets passed over a lot because it doesn’t translate to photos/social media very well, but it is a major way to set the tone to your personal style ALL day and personal mixed music selections are such a crowd pleaser! Plus it’s literally just a whole day of your favorite jams, which basically guarantees a good time.
•
Second: FOOD. There are literally zero rules saying that just because you’re having a high end or luxury event, that you can’t include a food truck. I don’t know ANYONE who dislikes tacos…just saying. OR if you still want a luxe feel, with a much more fun presentation, go for something different like a sushi bar at cocktail hour, or more culturally centered food options vs. the standard chicken/fish options. Also pizza trucks are a thing, and they’re beloved.
•
Third: DETAILS. The little things really go a long way. While you may thing that the tiny things mainly go unnoticed, in my experience they do a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to getting the big picture across. Unique accessories, customized decor, adding elements that your guests will immediately see and think “oh wow that’s so (name here)!”. Keeping the little details in-theme and personal makes all the difference in the world. It’s Monday, let’s check in 🖤✨

It’s so common to have that “start of the week” anxious and overwhelmed feeling. You probably feel like your lists are a mile long, and you’ve got a long day ahead of you. That “Case of the Monday’s” is usually caused by those feelings and creates that pre-determined s**tty Monday before it even starts. So this week, let’s try to nip that in the bud, and start off healthy!
•
Step 1, have a large glass of water before any coffee, take a small walk if you have time, and wash your face. You’ll feel more awake, maybe even like you don’t need as much coffee. Caffeine enhances those anxious moments we are trying to get rid of!
•
Step 2, take the 3 most important things on your to-do list, and the 3 that you’ve been putting off the longest. Accomplish 1-2 of those items a day. No more, no less. Accomplishment without pressure!
•
Step 3, give yourself permission to rest. Your brain won’t think properly if you’re forcing yourself to be exhausted all the time in the name of productivity. Give your best and when you can’t anymore, walk away. Otherwise it’s just a waste of your limited time and energy.

My little (not so little) girl has graduated 5th grade and now I officially have a middle schooler! I’m ✨NOT✨ ready. She’s so grown and I can’t believe how quickly it’s happened right before my eyes! I still look at her the way I am in the second photo.

It’s Friday the 11th which means two very important things are happening this weekend:
1) and are ffiiiinnnaalllyyy getting to tie the knot after Covid tried to rain on their parade.
2) This is officially the start of my season after a LONG break thanks again to Covid. I can’t even begin to tell you have freaking amazing it feels to shake the dust off my skills and tools. I legit almost cried making my event-day binder last night.

My name is Stephanie, and I’m the Owner/Founder/Lead Planner and Designer for Ivy Lane Events! Wedding planning and design is my passion, and I’m so grateful for the opportunities I’m given every day to make unique events for clients who are equally as singular.

I have an 11 year old daughter, who is getting ready for middle school and I’m NOT ready. My bloodstream has been completely replaced by caffeinated substances. I actually do love the color pink, and most people are shocked to hear that.

I am someone who loves to make connections with people. I am someone who suffers from mental health issues and that’s ok. I am someone who is an open book. I am someone who loves to learn. We do more than weddings! 🖤

We also do social events! That category can include celebrations such as baby showers, grad parties, anniversaries, birthday parties, even holidays!
•
This one featured is a baby shower hosted on Dia de los Mu***os, and we took that theme and had ran with it! We had it catered by a local restaurant, and desserts were divine! Momma to be even made her own arroz con leche and it was to die for! (Haha see what I did there).
•
We had socially distanced tables by household, and an extra large selfie backdrop so we could have multiple parties take photos at a safe distance! Meals were individually packaged, and all guests were gifted in-theme masks and sanitizer to protect mama.
•
Fast forward almost 7 months later (to today) and baby girl Torres is happy, healthy and BEAUTIFUL!

I freaking lloooovvvveeee design, especially table design! There are so many different styles, and different ways to do each style, it lends to a lot of creativity!

We’ve got: modern, classic, minimalist, maximalist (hey, nice to meet you, that’s me), neutrals, vibrant, moody (I’m definitely a combo of vibrant and moody). The list goes on! Then after you pick a design style, you’d pick a setting style, and we can do a whole other post on that another time.
•
Do you already have an idea of what you want yours to be? Or do you need help? Don’t worry you’re not alone. A lot of people are all shoulders about the tables 🤷🏻‍♀️, and I’m here to help! Let’s talk insurance 🖤✨

How many ways can one be insured for a wedding? Honestly quite a few. First things first: ALWAYS HIRE PROFESSIONAL AND INSURED VENDORS. Seriously. I mean it. If they don’t have their s**t together before your event, odds are, they won’t have it together that day either. I could go on about this for a very long time, maybe I’ll make a part 2 of this one.
•
Secondly, having your own event day insurance is v important. Fun fact: I actually require all my clients to get it! It’s inexpensive, and trust me you’ll be glad you spent $80 instead of losing all your money if something (like weather or a pandemic) happen and you have to cancel.
•
Number 3 is actually a combo of the one above and something new. Did you know you can get event insurance via your home or auto companies? AND while you’re on the phone with them, GET YOUR RING INSURED! Don’t end up like Kim K crying in some hotel in Paris (or do. I mean, at least she was in Paris?).
•

Can we talk about fear for a second? I (very) often hear things like “Oh I don’t have the guts to pull that off.” Or “You’re brave!” Or “My family really wouldn’t like that.” These comments have occasionally been related to my style of design, but mostly my hair LOL!

The thing is, you do have the guts, you do have the bravery, and who cares what your grandmother thinks? I’d bet money she did a lot of things her family didn’t like either. It’s what we do as humans. It’s how we make progress.
•
So what is actually holding you back? Why do other people’s opinions matter to you so much? Remember opinions are like as****es. Everyone has them, and most people don’t like them, they’re gross anyways. Fear will definitely creep those nasty thoughts into your head though. Thoughts of things that haven’t even happened yet, but they could! BUT. What if they didn’t? What if you decided to flip your fears the bird and try whatever you think you can’t do?
•
I dare you. I dare you to think of one thing this week that you’re scared to do and try it. It can be huge, it can be tiny, it can be public, it can be personal. Talk to that person you like, book that trip you’re dreaming of, dye your hair, chop it off, try that new food, tell your mom you will not be inviting your second cousin Linda that you only met once, wear that bright pink wedding dress. Whatever it is, just don’t half ass it. We whole ass things around here. Then when you FINALLY do that thing, I want you to come back and tell me what happened! Leave it on the comments, dm, text me, whatever. I want you to know at least one person is proud of you for being brave! I wanna celebrate with you! Your fear doesn’t have to be your limit.

To the women who raised us to be strong, graceful, independent, intelligent, and our own kind of beautiful. To the children who made us realize “oh my god I sound just like my mother.” To the moment when you understand that that sentence isn’t such a bad thing after all 😉.

To my own mother: I love you more than I could ever put into words. You taught me to be the kindest person I can be, to stand up for myself and my convictions, to give myself grace when I’m being too hard on myself, and to understand that beautiful means whatever I want it to mean and it’s ok to be wholly myself. Thank you for showing me how to really show up for others who need me, and how to be a powerfully loving friend. Thank you for giving me to the space I needed to figure out who I am and what I need and for understanding that sometimes I needed to learn the hard way. I know just standing by was the hardest thing you’ve ever had to do, and you handled it with grace and dignity. You’re an incredible woman, and I’m grateful for you daily.

To my daughter: thank you for teaching me a deeper love than I ever knew existed, for teaching me that it’s ok that we are going to make mistakes together because we are going to learn our lessons together too. Thank you for teaching me patience. Thank you for loving me even when I don’t feel like I deserve that love. Thank you for showing me how to be more free spirited and how to own who I am whole heartedly because other people’s opinions just hold us back. You amaze me.
