Hello, I’m Garret Scurr, a San Diego based wedding photographer. My story in photography began at 8 years old on a beach in Las Gaviotas, Mexico. My grandma and I were vacationing and she gave me a camera. This is the first memory I have of taking a picture of something beautiful. I have a good memory of a specific photo that I took that day. There was a beautiful beach and an incredible rock emer

ging from the ocean that went up 40 feet. I took a photo of that scene and even looking at it now, I would say that I composed the shot well. After studying the rules of photography over the years, it was clear that the photo I took that day on the beach in Las Gaviotas was a good image, technically speaking. Although, that is not what made the photo special. After my grandma developed the picture, she came to me with it and said something very simple. She said, “You have a good eye Garret.” It was that simple statement that sparked a passion in me to capture images through photography. Some time passed after that vacation to Mexico and in my early 20′s I went on a trip around the world. This trip brought back the passion for photography that I felt that day on the beach at age 8. Photography is one of my true passions. I am honored to say that I love being a wedding photographer. It’s so fulfilling to take the happiest day in someones life and capture the love in a photo where it can live on forever. Sometimes we take for granted the fleeting moments of happiness in our lives and photography allows an image to remind us of those moments. Imagery has the ability to open our eyes to new perspectives of the world that no one else can imagine. I would be privileged, as your wedding photographer, to tell your story of love through the photos we will create together.
