The mood is strong with this one....

Aria LOVES Star Wars. I have countless drawings thats she's made where she makes up her own episode's & she pretends often that she is either Leia or Luke. (Spelled LOOK if you see her art).
Today is going to be a fun filled day with Star Wars scavenger hunts, crafting and movie night!!!

I had to celebrate with my girl. She DEFINITELY loves to be in front of the camera and I need to do more shoots with just her.

It's so fun getting to know her and to find joy with her.

Hey!! Slow your scroll ;). I'm seeing some new faces in my followers count and I want to share a little with each of you!!! I'm Sophia Elizabeth - wearer of MANY hats but most importantly if you're following me here, I'm owner and primary photographer for Sophia Elizabeth Photography.

My company is small right now but it's grown as I've brought on two people this year and it's crazy to think I've officially been in business for almost FIVE YEARS!!! Which means you'll see an anniversary post pretty soon.

I'm SO thankful for what I get to do everyday - and I'm constantly AMAZED at my clients' stories & personalities.

Clients who turn into friends have said that I make the Photography experience a breeze because I work to create a space where you can be YOU!!

My shoot & edit style is Film Inspired and hopefully my dreams of being a hybrid photog will come to life in the next five years

I'm passionate about holding space to get all of those precious and irreplaceable connections documented for you through imagery. I LOVE to journey from season to season with my clients and to grow with them.

Anyone else as excited as me for more moments like this in 2021!!! GUYS It has been a LOOONGG year of waiting for things to start looking like normal once again and I know we are still a little far away from complete normalcy BUT I am SO excited for the freedom restored. For my couples, and families who've been waiting to celebrate events like weddings & graduations, birthdays & baby showers! WE ARE almost there!!! And I'm honored to get to be with each of you through the ever changing seasons of your lives!! What joy & depth each of you bring to the circles you're in. What goodness comes out of the way you live your lives & LOVE the people you're with.

"Jesus, when you gonna wake up? When you gonna wake up? How can you sleep when we're in need?" - Porter's Gate.

This morning as I sit here drinking coffee & searching the scriptures for some kind of answers in a sea of many questions. I'm led to lament & petition for my eyes to stay open.

I am angered by the oppressiveness that lingers, thrives & feeds off of the fear and hatred in hearts here in this nation. I weep and slam my hands on the floor alongside my Asian American brothers and sisters. Asian hate is not new. In fact NONE of the oppressive and violent acts that have been unearthed & spoken about in the last few years are. But each act inflicts a wound into the identity of those impacted. We've seen this within the Black & Latino communities over the last year who have asked us to stand and demand justice. When we address the wounded with silence or worse with words that silence them; we compound that wound. The best we can do sometimes is not quite enough and we know this so often we do nothing.

Jesus help us. Help us not remain silent.

I see our generation rising the occasion of addressing the work that needs to be done. However, I see us also see a tendecy toward hopelessness & bitterness when we are not heard. The tension of waiting for justice to come can do this to our hearts. I know this too well, it's the very thing that can drive us away from the work needing to be done.

I know you're tired. I'm tired too. Today there may be no definitive answers now or change here in the foreseeable future. We may continue to raise our fists to the sky tears flooding together yelling for Jesus to wake up - to see. To quit sleeping. To defend. To restore. To come bring peace.
We may look at each other with questioning eyes who doubt that He has in fact seen us, and IS working all things for our good. (cont. in comments)...

Today is a very special day to me. Not only are you probably wearing my favorite color (GREEN!😍💚) BUT the McGill pride still runs pretty deep in my veins on this day. In case you don't know this about me... I'm adopted!!! And my Mom was very very proud to be Irish. 🇨🇮 A pride passed on from her Da (my Grand-Dad!) Walter. I can't celebrate the day with her today but I CAN celebrate with my Aunt Jessica & my sweet darlings today!

Earlier we dressed up in our St. Patty's Day attire & headed for to be with my sweet friend for little work/playdate! And in a few minutes after naptime we are going to make soda bread from scratch, paint some rainbows & try to catch a leprechaun.

I love dressing up for this holiday with my girls and making new traditions that carry all the goodness of my own unique history! Slide 👉 for some a peek at my outfit & CUTE matching socks.

That feeling you get when your headshots are everything you wanted and MORE!!!

Question: Do you have dance parties in your living room?!

For me it's a DAILY rhythm that was established in my home in 2020. Like literally I feel like dance parties at random times with my girls have shifted our moods & even brought deeper connection.

Frequently played tracks include: "Let's get Loud" - , "Jammin'" - Bob Marley, "Brown Skinned Girl" , "Don't Stop Me Now" - Queen, "Girls just want to have fun", Bachata favorites, some Shaki & some Marc Anthony too.... (gotta get my girls in on all that Boricua magic).

I vote 2021 needs more dance parties & better photos!!! What do you say?

Hannah & Frank's Elopement is on the blog!!! Wishing them a Happy 1 year Anniversary.

They were wed just before the whole world shut down in 2020 and it was pure rainy day magic. Today's rainy day weather was a perfect reminder of the goodness that was their day!

You are just the best. I'm so thankful to know you and to have had the incredible honor of photographing your first day as Husband & Wife.

I've been raising strong women since 2016.

There have been many times on this journey that I have felt uncertain of being up for the challenge in front of me.

The best parenting advice I have ever been given was that my girls just need me to be me.
And that's what being strong for them is all about.
I've had a lot of defining strong moments - like giving birth ALL naturally to my twins who I fought for so that they could come on their own... and stepping away from a situation that was killing my soul in order to be more present for them... BUT these have not been without OTHER strong women holding my arms up, cheering me on, challenging me, calling out my identity and holding my face in their hands catching my tears.

I have the honor of raising my girls in the midst of a community of STRONG INCREDIBLE WOMEN.

I am so thankful for you all.
