Today, I am incredibly grateful and humbled to be celebrating 10 years of sobriety. This milestone is more than just a number; it represents a decade of growth, resilience, and unwavering commitment to a healthier, happier life.

When I look back at where I started, I am reminded of the challenges I faced and the battles I fought, both within myself and with the world around me. The journey has not been easy, but every step has been worth it. I’ve learned so much about myself, about strength, about willingness, and about the power of perseverance.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported me along the way. To my family and friends, thank you for your unconditional love and patience. Your encouragement and belief in me have been my anchor in the storm. To my mentors and fellow travelers on this path, thank you for your wisdom and companionship. You have shown me that recovery is possible and that I am never alone in this journey.

Sobriety has given me the clarity to appreciate the beauty in everyday moments and the strength to face life's challenges head-on. It has allowed me to build meaningful relationships, pursue my passions, and find true joy in living authentically.

To anyone struggling with addiction, know that recovery is possible. It’s a difficult road, but one that is filled with hope and transformation. Every day is a new opportunity to make positive changes and to reclaim your life.

Thank you for being a part of my journey, one day at a time. Here’s to many more years of living life with grace, happiness, and sobriety.

A Decade of Dedication: Riding Towards a World Without AIDS
Over ten years ago, I clipped into my pedals, heart pounding with anticipation and purpose. It was the start of a journey that would change my life and the lives of countless others. As I embarked on my first AIDS/Lifecycle ride, I had no idea the profound impact it would have on me, nor the incredible community of support I would find along the way.
Now, as I prepare to embark on my tenth ALC ride, I find myself reflecting on the miles traveled, both on the road and in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Each year, I've pedaled with determination fueled by the knowledge that every mile brings us closer to a world where HIV is a thing of the past.
Over the past decade, I've witnessed the transformative power of collective action. Together, we've raised over $65,000, funding critical AIDS health services here in the Bay Area and around the globe. We've provided lifesaving medication, support for those living with HIV/AIDS, and crucial resources for prevention and education efforts through the services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
But our work is far from over. Despite incredible strides, HIV/AIDS continues to affect millions of lives worldwide. In the Bay Area alone, thousands still lack access to the care and support they need. That's why I'm once again gearing up for the AIDS/Lifecycle ride—to continue the fight, to honor the memories of those we've lost, and to stand in solidarity with those living with HIV/AIDS.
With each pedal stroke, I carry the stories of friends and loved ones affected by this disease. Their courage and resilience inspire me to push harder, to go further, and to never lose sight of our ultimate goal: an AIDS-free generation.
As I prepare for my tenth year riding in support of AIDS health services, I invite you to join me on this journey. Your generosity has the power to change lives—to provide hope, healing, and the promise of a brighter future. Together, we can turn the tide against HIV/AIDS and create a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Thank you for your support, your compassion, and your unwavering commitment to making a difference. Together, we ride towards a world without AIDS.
With gratitude and love,
Tommie Murphy
