When we knew we were going to acquire our new majestic Steinway concert grand model D, we immediately drew up a list of the pianists whose hands and souls we wanted to experience through this fine instrument.

At the top of the list was the singular who has quietly re-defined the lines between jazz and classical, building a rich global career around his nuanced and understated approach to music-making.

We can’t wait for his solo recital at Noe Music this Sunday which will celebrate the rich legacy of stride and ragtime - where tradition meets improvisation and history dances at his fingertips.

We are almost sold out. Standing room only.

We are thrilled to announce Noe Music’s 32nd mainstage season of eight unique concerts from September 2024 through May 2025.

We will feature our new Steinway Model D grand piano in a tantalizing mix of local and global artists, and we’ll hear classical, world, jazz, folk, and new music by emerging performers and veterans of the stage. This array of extraordinary artists and performances takes place at one of the best venues to hear small acoustic ensembles in San Francisco: Noe Valley Ministry.

Joining Artistic Directors Meena Bhasin and Owen Dalby onstage will be some of the great artists of our time. We’ll witness jaw-dropping performances by pianists Jon Kimura Parker, Aaron Diehl, and Stephen Prutsman. Back by popular demand, we’ll hear the Horszowski Trio, the Telegraph Quartet in another silent film with live music, and Sam Reider, this time with his Grammy-winning duo partner Jorge Glem and Brazilian bass sensation Munir Hossn. We are thrilled to present the Grammy-nominated Catalyst Quartet with Todd Palmer as well as the rising stars in the Balourdet Quartet, and finally cult-favorite violin virtuoso Gilles Apap, whose “carte blanche” concert of classical, jazz and gypsy fiddling styles will knock your socks clean off!

The season begins with our Piano Première & Benefit on September 19, a very special event held in celebration and in support of our magnificent new Steinway. Come be the very first to hear this instrument’s mighty voice in the hands of acclaimed pianists Stephen Prutsman, Elizabeth Joy Roe, and Jeffrey LaDeur!

Reflecting on the unforgettable concert held last week, we had the privilege of hosting the exceptionally talented Members of the Silkroad Ensemble - Haruka Fujii, Karen Ouzounian, and Kinan Azmeh. At Noe Music, we take great pride in providing a professional platform where artists come together for innovative collaborations, exemplified by the awe-inspiring piece 'Divisions' composed by Haruka Fujii.

In Meena's profound statement, 'This concert was truly transformative, allowing us to embrace the full spectrum of human experience. Through music, we were able to create powerful moments of stillness and celebration.' This sentiment resonated deeply with everyone fortunate enough to be in attendance, as we were all enveloped by the extraordinary energy of the evening. 🎶✨

Stay tuned for more updates! We will be sharing additional highlights from the concert in the coming days.

Kinan Azmeh on clarinet, Haruka Fujii on percussion, and Karen Ouzounian on cello come together in a musical gathering presented by Noe Music. This trio of composer-performers, all members of the Silkroad Ensemble, draw inspiration from a variety of traditions without being confined by any one of them. They will engage in a musical conversation, exchanging melody, rhythm, and stories from their respective cultural backgrounds — Syria, Japan, Armenia, and beyond. Their repertoire will encompass folk songs, improvisation, original compositions, and contemporary classical music.

Despite their diverse traditions and cultural roots, these three world-class musicians create sparks when they merge their musical worlds! Audiences, both young and old, will be captivated by the extraordinary sounds of Haruka Fujii (percussion), Kinan Azmeh (clarinet), and Karen Ouzounian (cello). This performance also provides a wonderful opportunity to introduce children to the enchanting soundscapes of these magical instruments.

Don't miss out on this unique experience!
