February 7th 2025 For our February 2025 exhibition, 111 Minna Gallery will be showcasing Lady Mags who will be bringing her HIGHLY AMBITIOUS A-GAME to both our 2nd Street and Zappa Galleries!!!! Lady Mags has been a graffiti writer since the early 2000s, gaining her chops in her home town of New York City. She really took off in 2006, when she started painting track sides in Chicago and then all over the world. She exhibited her first fine art pieces in 2012 when AmandaLynn invited her to be part of a group show at Cassel Gallery in SF. Lady Mags then co-founded Alynn-Mags, a two woman graffiti and street art crew. Together, Amandalynn and Lady Mags have painted all over the world, and been in magazines like Juxtapoz and Inked, featured in local news stories and in documentaries and shown in fine art galleries around the globe. Painting art in the street and large scale fine art pieces are her passion. Over the last two decades, Lady Mags has painted thousands of graffiti pieces in alleys, tunnels, trains, walls and more. About HOME: Lady Mags has lived and travelled all over the world. As a child, she moved a lot; and as a young mother, she has moved her children several times as well. She has had to make a HOME wherever she resided. For ‘HOME’, Lady Mags will be collaborating with other artists of whom she has admired over the years. Artists that she feels bring a feeling of safety and HOME wherever they go. She wishes and hopes that all feel at HOME when experiencing her exhibition while viewing the pieces, hand upholstered furniture and murals that come together to make this exhibition come together at 111 Minna Gallery. Christopher recently earned his mural chops assisting SF based muralist, Nathan Richard Phelps on this massive outdoor wall located in the city of Bakerfield, CA. @christopherjernbergart x @nrpartworks See more of Nathan at: www.nathanrichardphelps.com "This video shows some of the process, mediums and techniques we used on Nathan’s mural in Bakersfield. I helped throughout the whole 11 day process and at the end of it felt confident to do any kind of large size painting of my own. It’s naturally intimidating to go from a small canvas to something 130 feet wide and 20 feet tall, but after a while the mind and body adapted to this size. And the choice of the right approach happened quite organically. It was cool that we mixed so many different styles, mediums and techniques in this one piece. What appealed to me for the type mural I’m looking to do with realistic subject done in a romantic painterly style—is simply the use of roller and brushes. Also the type paint matters. For less important and defined areas regular latex house paint is adequate and then to get that feeling of rich modeling and washes oil paint allows, I’d go with a higher pigment and buttery vehicle water based paint like Nova. Sprayer has its place but the machinery is high maintenance and easily clogs up, requiring just the right consistency paint and repeated cleaning.
