For the woman behind the cookies, Katrice Riley, a passion for baking began at a young age and continued through her studies at the Culinary Institute of America with a focus on Baking and Pastry Arts. Katrice started Cookies by Katrice in 2013 as a passion project however, it wasn’t until the pandemic hit and the store-bought cookies she purchased just weren’t satisfying her sugar itch, that she decided to officially re-launch the business and share the gift of quality cookies with others. ⁣⁣

quickly gained an online following with SF locals anxiously awaiting the next batch of these delicious cookies with favorites such as Dutch Apple Pie and Salted Caramel Crunch (Caramel, Toffee Bits, Pretzels- yum!) We’ve personally tried many of these cookies and trust us, you’re going to want to order some today!⁣ ⁣

Brown Sugar Kitchen is the creation of Executive Chef Tanya Holland, who brings her exceptional culinary skills, creativity and love of hosting and feeding people to the restaurant. Chef Holland received her formal French training from La Varenne Ecole de Cuisine in Burgundy, France, has an extensive culinary background and has been the recipient of many distinctions, honors and awards. Brown Sugar Kitchen is open for outdoor dining, takeout and delivery from its Oakland location. And keep an eye out for Tanya’s new show “Tanya’s Kitchen Table” premiering on the OWNTV November 14th!⁣

After much anticipation it’s finally here! Starting tomorrow, October 21, 2020 the SkyStar Observation Wheel will officially open in Golden Gate Park. The attraction was supposed to open back in April in honor of Golden Gate Park’s 150th Anniversary Celebration but we are positive it was worth the wait. We can’t wait to take a spin and see the park from the sky! Be sure to visit skystarwheel.com to reserve your tickets! ⁣

Thursday, October 15, 2020 was GLAAD , the most visible LGBTQ anti-bully campaign in the world and to celebrate we are highlighting Equality Vines. Equality Vines is the world’s first cause wine portfolio dedicated to equality for all people. It’s a perfect pairing for label co-founders Matt Grove and Jim Obergefell, a coupling of their shared passions for excellent wine and equal rights. Jim, activist, realtor and IT consultant, became the lead plaintiff in the landmark Supreme Court case that legalized same-sex marriage across the United States.⁣

It may be autumn, but it’s finally our summer in San Francisco which means it’s the perfect time to get out and explore the city. This week on Design and Development Manager, Jessica Cahill, takes a stroll through the Marina District to the Palace of Fine Arts. One of San Francisco’s most photographed landmarks, The Palace of Fine Arts is also located near some of the city’s best shops and restaurants and makes for a great backdrop to an evening picnic. ⁣

The McBride Sisters Wine Collection is a story of two sisters and a passion for wine. Though continents apart, the sisters were raised in the wine regions of Monterey, California and Marlborough, New Zealand; independently growing up in and around vineyards and developing an appreciation for the craft of fine winemaking. Eventually finding their way to each other in 1999 they created the McBride Sisters Wine Collection. The sisters’ story is proof that a bond can form over a bottle of wine: a truth that comes to life with every wine!⁣

In 2019 the sisters created “The McBride Sisters SHE CAN Professional Development Fund” to promote the professional advancement of women in the wine industry. In the first year they awarded scholarships of nearly $40k to empower women to strive for change and to create opportunities for themselves where there hadn’t been before. Oakland Restaurant Week continues through this Sunday and we highly recommend at stop at Souley Vegan. Run by Oakland native Tamearra Dyson, is a must try for vegans or those who are curious about how a 100% vegan dish like a Louisiana-style Po’ boy can be so delicious (trust us, it can be if Chef Dyson is behind it). ⁣

Eleven years ago Chef Dyson decided to risk it all by leaving nursing school and pursing her culinary dreams and we’re so glad she did! Souley Vegan has been featured on the Food Network, and was voted one of the Top 10 soul food restaurants in the country by USA today.
