The Bay is mourning Oakland’s Kenzie Smith, Known community activist, and Co-founder of BBQ’n While Black, a movement created to resist racism and harassment to Black people at Lake Merrit in Oakland, which has since made Lake Merrit an attraction once again for outdoor concerts, events, and vending for Everyone. Thank you for your contributions to our community.

Symba is arguably still the best new rap artist out since his latest 2023 EP, ‘Results Take Time’ in which was a follow up to his 2020 debut album ‘Don’t Run From Rap’.

G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time) Is one of Symba’s most memorable recorded hits thus far.
In this record, Symba states all the reasons why he could be considered a GOAT already, but also denounces the thrown in the very next verse while debating why no one person should be worthy of the title, when many are deserving. Genius!

Symba’s range of lyrical content and emcee skills has since been recognized by Hip Hop icons landing him some dope features coast to coast and more recently landing him a starring role as the Bay Area Hip Hop Legend, Too $hort in the film, ‘Freaky Tales’ which premiered in 2024’s Sundance Film Festival.

Needless to say, Bay Area’s own Symba is taking the world by storm and the real-heads are here for wave 🌊

Former WNBA player, Sheri Sam and Former NBA player, Antonio Davis, have been doing their share of volunteer work in the SF Bay Area for the past few years. Recently the two former basketball players have been involved in launching a new Tech & Basketball Camp based in West Oakland, hometown of Antonio Davis and the MacClymonds Warriors Basketball team.

The Technology & Girls Basketball Skill Camp is geared to help high school athletes think about life after basketball. Camp attendees can find their shot on the court and careers in the tech industry.

The Community, Politicians and Members of the Black Panther Party (BPP) stood in solidarity in Oakland, Ca this past Sunday on the BPP 55th anniversary to witness the unveiling of a sculpted bust, honoring Dr. Huey P. Newton, Co-Founder of the BPP.

Fredrika Newton, accompanied by
Sculpture Artist, Dana King unveiled the bust of her former husband and the sculpted image now resides on the breeze-way of Mandela Parkway at 9th Street in West Oakland, 1 block from now popular Mini-Museum and Women of Black Panther Party Mural on 9th & Dr Huey P. Newton Way.
