The lesson today was to use only one material. I received two tall stocks of okra. Since I couldn’t just place two stocks into the container, I cut pieces of the okra and pinned them back onto the stalk in various ways to give it more volume.

花鳥風月
Flower, Bird, Wind, and Moon:
Nature’s Beauty in Seasons
The theme is 「花鳥風月 (ka-cho-fu-getsu) — a traditional theme of natural beauty in Japanese aesthetics. Literally translated as “Flower, Bird, Wind and Moon”, 「花鳥風月」is a four-character phrase that describes beauty in nature that transitions along with the four seasons in Japan. This collaborative performance explores and fuses the artistic interpretations of expression through the art of calligraphy, dance, and music.
