Farahhah/Simhhah invites you to a concert of sacred ecstatic music based upon Middle Eastern and Chasidic roots. Together, the songs and chants invite the listener on a journey through the gates of the seven palaces of the heart to the deepest place of the encounter with the divine beloved. Artists:
Manar Azreik began her spiritual awakening ins
pired by the relationship between the body and rhythms through drumming, meditation, movement, and martial arts. She was the first Arab Israeli national Judo champion, and held that title for 7 years. Manar is an interpreter of the mixing of cultural understanding of human experience. Through her years of Waldorf teaching, Manar realized that there is oneness that connects everything. Manar comes from an Arab family, and has danced and sung Middle Eastern and Western music since childhood. She followed her love to spiritual dance and realized through dance that the beat of a song can pe*****te the soul, creating beautiful rhythms of body movements. Rabbi Tsvi Bar-David grandson of a chasidic Vizhnitzer rabbi, was trained from his youth in the Jewish sacred musical tradition, and continues to lead sacred ecstatic song and teach Jewish Mysticism in venues around the country, including Chochmat HaLev in Berkeley and Vacaville State Prison. Our special guest, Boucha’ib Abdelhadi will be playing Oud and singing with us. Abdelhadi frequently performs in the San Francisco Bay Area, at Jewish and Middle Eastern music events ans festivals. He recently participated in a series of Sufi ecstatic concerts in London UK.
