SPECIAL NOTE: This is a special Immersive Light Stick Cheer (or ouen joei) screening
where audience members get a special My Hero Academia: You’re Next light stick they can
keep (while supplies last). The My Hero Academia: You’re Next light stick is programmed
to react to the film’s audio, automatically changing colors. So do you want to have fun?
Then you want to be here.
This is also our very first screening at the beautiful United Theater movie palace. There is a
LIMITED QUANTITY of light sticks and they come with the price of the ticket. So grab
tickets as quickly as you can! When we run out of light sticks, we may release another
round of tickets at a lower price. But for now, if you buy a ticket, you GET a light stick.
Bring the family. Bring anime fanatics. This one is going to be a blast.

PARKING INSTRUCTIONS: There are many nearby parking lots for the United Theater.

For those utilizing public transit, the nearest Metro Station is the 7th St/Metro Center.
Address: 660 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles 90017. This is about a 9 block walk to and from
theater.
Secret Movie Club is all about trying out new cinematic experiences. It can be a silent movie
masterpiece with a heavy metal score or it can be the newest movie premiere with the
moviemakers present to talk about how they got it done.
As Secret Movie Club finally begins to launch its Fall 2024 season, we have the opportunity to
do something crazy, out of the box, and well. . .we think it will be exactly the mid-week party
you’ll need.
Do you need some big budget big screen mind-blowing anime, K-Pop, Harajuku euphoria? We
got you covered.
The U.S.-based Toho International, part of the Famous Japanese Toho Co., LTD (who produced
many of Akira Kurosawa’s greatest movies and the Godzilla franchise) worked with us last year
to screen Godzilla Minus One with its director Takashi Yamazaki (who went on to win the
Academy Award!!) for an in-person Q&A. Now Toho International is giving us the chance to
screen the hugely popular anime feature MY HERO ACADEMIA: YOU’RE NEXT at the United
Theater, one of Los Angeles’s most beautiful movie palaces, as an Immersive Light Stick cheer
screening (or ouen joei) currently all the rage in Japan and Korea.
Do you need to come to a movie palace, watch a huge, big budget sci-fi anime mega-hit movie,
and wave a light stick around with your fellow audience members as the sticks light up and
synch to mind blowing battle sequences in the movie?
I think you do. My Hero Academia: You’re Next tells a unique new story as the world famous
anime series moves to its conclusion. A sinister new villain, Dark Might, has learned all the
wrong lessons from beloved good hearted superhero All Might. Instead of service, Dark Might
sees power as most important. So all your favorite teenage heroes have to use their “Quirks” (or
lack of “Quirks”) to fight back. Fan-favorites Deku, Todoroki and Bakugo and more engage in
some of the most amazing battle sequences yet animated. And your glow sticks are gonna go
crazy.
Look, sometimes you just gotta go to a movie palace, see a huge Japanese anime movie with a
bunch of anime friends, wave immersive light sticks in the air, and keep them! Maybe even go to
Little Tokyo before or after the movie for some shabu-shabu and Sapporo.
This is going to be a party. We want you there.

What is the My Hero Academia: You’re Next light stick?
The My Hero Academia: You’re Next light sticks are exclusive to these limited Immersive Light
Stick Cheer screenings. Made in Japan and branded with the film logo both on the stick and the
custom wrist strap.
How does it work?
The My Hero Academia: You’re Next light stick is programmed to react to the film’s audio,
automatically changing colors to match each moment. There’s nothing to configure, simply turn
it on and enjoy the show.
Do I get to keep the light stick?
Yes. The light stick is yours to keep after the show and can be manually used like any other
standard light stick.
What is a cheer screening?
In Japan, cheer screenings (or ouen joei) are fan events that encourage audience participation
often through cheering, singing, clapping, and bringing other common concert items like light
sticks into the theater. It’s the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow fans while experiencing
the movie in a concert-like setting.
Refunds
When we do events with the United Theater, tickets are handled through the United’s ticket
vendor Axis. So please review their refund policy before purchasing. Secret Movie Club WILL
NOT be able to issue refunds on its own for this screening.
