Jax Is Blooming I am a cut flower gardener and florist. I grow organic cut flowers for arrangements and bouquets. In winter, I mix retail blooms with local area greenery.

From spring to fall, the flowers & bouquets are available through popup sales or by preorder. I only use fresh and natural materials for the arrangements. I can provide bouquets or flowers in vases.

Good Morning on this Sunday!!

I've been absent a bit while the flowers fade, waiting for some fall colors to bloom, and harvesting a lot of veggies and fruits (and processing them).

But a couple of texts from folks, this week, inquiring about flowers, got me out harvesting today. These jars are available.

So, if you've been wanting a Jax is Blooming jar, please reach out. These are $20 a piece. Everything in the jars, is still from the Jax Is Blooming garden.

Zinnias last almost 2 weeks in the vase, with some going even longer, when they are freshly harvested. These are available today. Pint jars, quart jars or small or large vase arrangements.

So much beauty in these summer flowers. The garden is starting its summer peak. I picked these yesterday for an order today. All these are from the garden, and none of these are found in the stores. Doesn't mean they are exotic, just means they don't travel well.

I was curious about the size and scale of the U.S. flower market, so looked up some stats. "In 2022, United States imported $2.48B in Cut Flowers, mainly from Colombia ($1.64B), Ecuador ($413M), Netherlands ($135M), Canada ($89.9M), and Mexico ($62.9M)."

Our local markets are minuscule compared to these. So, if you like to shop local, and seasonal, there are other flower growers in our area. Keep us in mind. We might not be the cheapest, but we will be the freshest.

I wasn't sure how they would look, I planted them late, and was worried about whether they would hold up on our windy days. But, all good so far.

Enjoying this book on a quiet morning w my coffee. I love books with botany leanings. It feeds the gardener and flower arranger in me.

Once in a while, I read a book, so close to who I am at my core, that it's satisfying enough for the next 4-5 books I read that are just meh.

This is a non-fiction, and she writes about how tress, plants, and flowers have dispersed to foreign locales from their native beginnings.
--Cherry trees, a gift of diplomacy by the Japanese to the world.
--Seaweed, attaching itself to floaters and reaching far shores.
--Tea from its humble beginning growing in the hilltop in China
--Mango native to India, but now widespread.

It's a blend of botany, political science, and human societies.

Haven't finished book yet, but looking forward to the other chapters.

Happy Friday! Flowers on porch. The Bridgerton themed weekend. So fun to okay with these dreamy romantic floral ideas. And built a few succulents in water vases. I love these, they stay for a while, you can plant the succulents, AND those flowers come from the succulents as well. So far, the proch/driveway thing has been going well. I love being able to offer self-serve florals to other flower-lovers.

A garden multiplies and propagates. The amaryllis growing in the garden started from 1 bulb I bought at a garage sale in 2010. That 1 turned to 6 flowering amaryllis in the garden. I need to buy another color and propagate those. 😂 Amaryllis are easy to grow and love the California sunshine. So, propogate ideas, beliefs, and bulbs!!

Yellow fever! It's always surprising to me how many yellows pop up in the spring. These were from the garden. But in nature, take a look outside, and you'll see buttercups, forsythia, and yellow mustard seed flowers covering the rolling California hills in yellow. Enjoy it while it lasts...the spring little Chiquitita! 💛

Looking back at December's arrangements. December seems all about red, but as the month aged, the pinks, browns, and whites filled the vases. Enjoy!

Some of my favorite succulent arrangements. What nice about my Zone is that when the summer flowers stop producing, the succulents kick in with the cooler weather. I have one on my table that is 1 month in and going strong. Powerhouse plants!!! #succulents

Sex in the city. A classic theme song for some lime-green classic colors. I am loving having the option to make color themes, right out of my garden. This light yellow flowers (dahlias, zinnia, yarrow, strawflower, and coleonema sprigs.

Got to camping this weekend. At a state park with Sequoia trees. These are the largest trees on our planet. The large ones weighing as much as 12 blue whales. Can't farm this kind of growth. But we can farm the food and flowers we grow. A nice rejuvenation as summer flowers get going in my garden. Tomorrow back to the garden. #sequoiatrees #bigtreesstatepark #calaveras
