Did you know the most treasured piece of artwork owned by Phyllis Madonna is a family portrait painted by artist Wayne Ingram in 1978?

Wayne stayed with the Madonna family in San Luis Obispo for two weeks, spending time with each family member to photograph and capture their unique personalities and interests. The final painting featured each person posed in the foreground, with soft, ghost-like images in the background representing their individual passions.

Phyllis shared, “When I saw the finished piece, I told him, ‘Because of you, our family will live on forever.’”

A truly heartfelt tribute from a kind and humble artist.

Did you know our fabulous pink cow, Lady MooDonna, was created in 2016 by local artist Kelley Assuncion as part of the International Cow Parade that came to San Luis Obispo?

After a colorful debut in the Madonna Meadows, Lady MooDonna and her pint-sized counterpart, Mini Moo, moo-ved into their forever homes on property. Now beloved icons, you’ll find Lady MooDonna grazing in pink perfection and Mini Moo keeping stylish watch near the Boutique window. 💕🐄

Did you know, back in the early 1900s, William Randolph Hearst imported loads of European antiquities for his famous castle, but not all of them made the cut. Fast forward to the 1950s: Alex Madonna, a friend of the Hearst family, acquired two of these historic treasures: a marble balustrade and a marble sarcophagus for the Madonna Inn.

The balustrade now graces the grand staircase in the Steak House dining room, while the sarcophagus, once tucked away in storage, has found its forever home as a dramatic centerpiece in the Secret Garden.

These pieces are believed to date back to the European Baroque or Rococo periods… meaning they could be over 300 years old! 😲🇮🇹🪨

Did you know that all of the stunning boulders inside Madonna Inn are REAL stones sourced from nearby Adelaida, CA? Many are built right into our fireplaces and walls, and a couple even contain fossilized skeletons!
