Preserving the magic of the Central Coast has always been at the heart of what we do, and now we’re proud to announce a major step forward. We’ve partnered with our friends at A.M. Sun Solar + Roofing to install solar panels that offset 100% of our electricity usage! 🌞💡

Over its lifetime, our solar system will save 2,082,973 lbs of carbon dioxide—that’s the same as:
🚗 Driving 2.4 million miles
🏡 Powering 326 homes for a year
🌲 What 948 acres of U.S. forest absorb in a year
⛽️ Burning 106,000+ gallons of gas

From baking our iconic Pink Champagne Cake to charging Teslas out front, we’re more sustainable than ever—because protecting our legacy, land, and community means everything. 💖🌿

✨ Fun Fact Friday ✨
Did you know that legendary comedian George Burns insisted on having breakfast at the Madonna Inn with Alex and Phyllis Madonna before agreeing to perform at the Paso Robles Mid-State Fair in 1989? He said he wouldn’t do the show unless they brought him to the Inn first—and of course, Alex and Phyllis were more than happy to host him. The three instantly hit it off!

George Burns was a true icon of American entertainment—known for his quick wit, ever-present cigar, and decades-long career in vaudeville, radio, TV, and film. He won an Academy Award for The Sunshine Boys and famously revived his career in his 80s with the Oh, God! movie series. Talk about timeless talent!

Ever noticed the Pick and Shovel symbol around Madonna Inn? It’s more than just a design, it’s a piece of history!
Alex Madonna started his construction company in 1935 with just a pick, shovel, and a Model T Ford. Years later, when he ventured into the cattle business, he honored his humble beginnings by choosing the pick and shovel as his cattle brand- a legacy that’s still seen throughout the Inn today! From coffee shop tabletops to sidewalks between guest rooms, and even in Room #123: The Pick and Shovel Room, this symbol is a tribute to hard work and perseverance.
You can even spot the Pick and Shovel brand on some of the horses around the Inn! (Like “Payday” pictured here)🐴 Keep and eye out for this special piece of Madonna Inn history next time you visit!

Fun Fact Friday! 🍀 Did you know that in 2006, Mrs. Madonna and Amanda took an unforgettable trip through the British Isles? Their journey with Crystal Cruises took them to England, Scotland, and Ireland with a special stop in Cork, Ireland, where Mrs. Madonna’s father was from!
While in Cork, they toured the Waterford Glass Factory, witnessing the artistry behind Ireland’s world famous crystal. Another unforgettable experience? A Musical Pub in Dublin, where they traveled the city with live Irish musicians, visited one of the oldest pubs, enjoyed a Guinness, and even attempted Irish dancing! 💃 🎻

Fun Fact Friday! 🎉 Did you know Madonna Inn once had an unexpected resident? 🦁 Meet “The Dutchess”- an African lion who found a home here after a friendly coin toss led Alex Madonna to welcome her in! She formed an unbeakable bond with Van, a bus person at the Inn, who continued to care for her even after he left work. Alex even built her a rock house that is still on property, where she lived out her days. Just another wild chapter in Madonna Inn history!
