Liev Schreiber has dedicated himself as an activist for Ukraine, as you can watch here. Our SLO Jewish Film and Learning Festival also has an actor turned activist joining us. Hear Flip Marks (Phillip Goldberg) on Friday night over Shabbat dinner as he speaks in flying out to Poland to help Ukrainian Jewish refugees. His movie with Doris Day will be feature on Sunday with Bagel & A Movie.

Watching the trauma of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, actor Liev Schreiber's desire to help led him to co-found Blue Check Ukraine, which vets and raises funds for NGOs providing aid on the ground. Schreiber talked with CBS News chief election & campaign correspondent Robert Costa about his Ukrainian...

We lost a true acting legend this past Tuesday.

Nehemiah Persoff, Z”L, and his acting career lasted over five decades, staring in movies like “Some Like it Hot” and TV shows like “The Twilight Zone” and “Gunsmoke”.

May his memory be a blessing.

Thank you to our sponsors and partners at SLO New Times for the coverage and shout out of our 12th Annual San Luis Obispo Jewish Film Festival!

Are you looking for something new and different to binge on? Live-stream the 2022 SLO Jewish Film Festival at WWW.SLOJFF.COM. Our Global Mishpacha - our global friends and family - is this year’s theme and you’ll find entertaining dramas, comedies, and fascinating documentaries followed by intimate conversations with the filmmakers with our very own Co-Director, Muara C. Johnston and local filmmaker, David Weisman.

LIVE ONLINE events are included each week, including a MLK Day Movie and Discussion (with our friends from Congregation Beth David), an interactive children’s activity with Leah Matthys Kates exploring Jews around the world, and a Closing a night presentation led by Micah Hyman explaining the history of the mezuzah.

In a world that is seemingly more fractured than ever, Mishpacha (our family and friends) remind us that we are one big, inclusive global family.

Here is a "Shalom" a welcome to the festival. We hope to see you participate and enjoy the films.

Hello Film Lovers of San Luis Obispo and the World,

Our Global Mishpacha is about celebrating our family and friends around the world who understand what it means to be Jewish in whatever environment, era, or circumstances they live. While our festival has always celebrated cultural diversity, this year, in a world fractured by politics, race and religion, we wanted to remind ourselves that we are indeed, one united family around the world. This year's larger selection of films has been curated from more countries than ever before, and many reveal unique, unknown stories that are certain to surprise and delight you.

We hope you will share the festival with your friends and family around the country, letting them know, that from January 9–30, 2022, they, too, can be a part of our San Luis Obispo community by sharing in the festival programming.

We want to thank our sponsors who are the foundation of making the festival possible. Your generosity and commitment are inspiring. We thank the filmmakers who have dared to make such remarkable movies. We know how hard it is to make a movie and your independent voices are heard. Finally, we thank the volunteers who have shared their time and talent to make this festival possible.

Being virtual has enabled us to expand the festival to meet more filmmakers, and share this gem from the JCC-Federation of San Luis Obispo with more people in more places. That's the great thing. So pop a bowl of popcorn, settle into your favorite spot, and join our festival spirit that connects us, even virtually.

—Muara C. Johnston & Bruce Silverberg, Co-Directors
