Black Friday Holiday Spectacular with Brass Mash at SLO Brew
Get ready for an electric Black Friday because Brass Mash is bringing their signature twist to Rod and Hammer’s SLO rock scene! Picture it: November evening coolness, fans gathering at the distillery’s rustic digs, and the buzz building in the crowd as Brass Mash rolls out with their unique blend of brassy, high-energy covers that throw classic rock, hip-hop, pop, and punk into an unforgettable mashup.
The stage lights hit, and the horns, saxophones, and drums fire up, injecting life into hits everyone loves but nobody’s heard quite like this. Think Beastie Boys with a big brass punch, Queen with some funky horns, and maybe even a little Nirvana that makes you want to dance. The crowd won’t know what hit them as Brass Mash amps up the energy, turning Rod and Hammer’s into a dance floor like SLO has never seen!
Brass Mash is a genre-mixing, energy-fueled brass band that reimagines beloved hits with a flavor all their own. Think roaring horns, thumping beats, and a saxophone section that turns up the intensity of each tune they tackle. Blending genres from rock to hip-hop to pop, they mash together the unexpected, transforming iconic songs with a fresh, brassy twist that instantly gets crowds moving. With infectious rhythms and high-energy showmanship, they bring a lively atmosphere that’s impossible to resist, creating an experience that feels like a giant, interactive dance party.
Rod and Hammer at The Rock in San Luis Obispo is a whiskey distillery and live music hub where rustic charm meets modern edge. Nestled in SLO’s vibrant scene, it’s known for its classic California vibe, welcoming outdoor patio, and premium handcrafted whiskey. With its intimate stage and relaxed yet lively ambiance, it’s a go-to spot for catching great bands, mingling with locals, and sampling top-notch spirits. The Rock combines that coastal, laid-back feel with serious dedication to craft, offering a perfect setting for music-lovers and whiskey fans alike.

For over 31 years New Times has been gathering and promoting a variety of events in SLO County (over 18 years for the Sun in No. Santa Barbara County). We’ve created a huge readership of over 150,000 that look each week to see what and where events are happening locally. When you couple that with the tens of thousands that follow our websites and social media outlets, that’s over 200,000 viewers.
Yet, when users found what to do within our calendars, we sent them off to fend for themselves to find tickets for the events. Often the experience was challenging and in some cases impossible. National services are available but often offer minimal logistical and definitely no marketing support to the organizations that use them. Furthermore, any fees from tickets sold using the national services (Eventbrite, Brown Paper TIckets, etc.) were pulling dollars out of our local communities and into their pockets.
Our partner in this venture, MyNorthMedia, is also a long-time media outlet who had a huge readership. Creating a one-stop hub for all of their clients not only made it easier for the organizations and their events more visible, but any fees were managed locally and kept within the community. It was hugely successful so they decided to offer the solution to select media companies around the country, including us. So far they have successfully implemented similar platforms in over 40 regional areas around the country.
We’re excited to announce that My805Tix is now a local ticketing platform that will be the regional hub for all events from Santa Ynez to San Simeon.
Organizations who utilize the service will have full access to manage their own portals, events, venues, and tickets like most other services. The big advantage with My805Tix is the large amount of media support to promote organizations and their events. Besides all the promotion on the My805Tix website and the individual Organization home pages clients will have, there will be additional print ads, web ads, social media posts, newsletters, giveaways, and online calendar entries with “buy tickets” links in both the New Times and Sun to consistently promote events. This platform will expose each of the organizations’ events to diverse audiences not typically reached.
