At Steelhead, our work is deeply rooted in a love for people and their stories. But that's not all we love. We also have a thing for stunning landscapes, raw emotion, and light, which we set out to capture and incorporate into each film. We believe your wedding day is just a small part of your story, and that your relationship has much more depth and meaning beyond one epic celebration. We believe

in creating films that are stripped of the fluff and nonsense, and instead consist of substance and meaning. We value creating films that make you feel something versus just seeing what the day looked like. We believe your wedding is an event that has been molded over the decades by friends and family and therefore is far too special of an event to simply follow a traditional cookie-cutter style of wedding videography. Instead, we believe it should be crafted with intention, standing alone as a piece of art, while representing who you are and what you stand for. In order to serve our couples with the care and attention they deserve, we will only take on 14 weddings for 2018. Our top priority is to make you feel loved and cared for while delivering films that are packed with story, emotion, and art. Our creative process extends beyond your wedding day to equip us with the content we need to create meaningful and story-driven wedding films.

Capturing your people in all their glory is one of the most rewarding and exciting parts of each wedding I'm a part of. I get so excited to share moments like this with my couples. Don't get me wrong, I'm a sucker for epic landscapes and gorgeous sunsets, but when dad is biking grandma to the reception I'll be smiling cheek to cheek behind the camera. Hey everyone! I want to introduce myself for those who don’t know me, and provide a very exciting update for those who do 🙂 My name is John and I’m the face behind Steelhead Cinema. My beautiful wife Shannon and I live on the central coast of CA with our golden boy Colby Jack. When I’m not shooting weddings, you can find me surfing, mountain biking, camping and exploring on foot or in our 4runner. I’m a sucker for a fresh donut and spending quality time with friends and family.
Our family of 3 is about to welcome another member into this big, beautiful, and crazy world we live in!! And by about to, I mean literally any day now haha. We know the road to pregnancy can be a difficult or impossible journey for many. Our hearts go out to those of you longing for a baby of your own but facing unimaginable hardship. We couldn’t feel more humbled and blessed to be welcoming our little one so soon. To couples waiting for their film, or anyone emailing me, thank you for your patience as we enter this exciting season of parenthood. I’ll be doing my best to keep up on everything, but also learn some pretty important skills like changing a diaper and swaddling 🤣 love you all and thank you for your for continued support of my business!

You are our why.

Crafting a film that captures who you are before and beyond your wedding day is what we do.

There’s no event I feel more grateful or connected to than an exchange of vows, a celebration of people becoming partners surrounded by love.

In the fall of 2016, I lost my Mom to cancer. Her loss continues to be the hardest thing I've ever experienced. Thankfully, photos and home videos exist to help me relive moments of her life and serve as a reminder of the amazing woman she was. It's why filmmaking feels even more personal and essential today.
