Families planning on celebrating their son or daughter's bar or bat mitzvah will want to remember that day with vivid, spirit-filled photos. That means hiring a pro photographer to capture the moment. Your photographer should also include a series of portraits, something I've been doing now for over 15 years. Here are some examples taken at Bay Area synagogues, including Rodef Sholom, Kol Shofar, Emanuel-el, Temple Sinai among others.

I went out to see if I could get a decent shot of the "Blue Moon" rising at the end of my street. Chatted with neighbors for a couple of minutes, then went back to my camera. Just then this happened! Blur is due to warm air rising.

Dick Rosenberg, the former CEO of Bank of America, died last week. The J. Weekly ran this obituary, featuring my portrait of him taken four years ago.

Banker, Navy man and philanthropist Richard Rosenberg paid attention to details, drove change and made a difference. He died March 3 in his adopted hometown of San Francisco at the age of 92.

What's more fun to photograph (and a bit stressful) than a surprise marriage proposal in public? Last week, CJ asked Rachel for her hand. Witnessed by a posse of his closest friends, and a horde of curious tourists who had gathered, this emotional scene unfolded.
