This year, the International Association for Su***de Prevention's theme for this year is Changing the Narrative on Su***de with a call to action of Start the Conversation. This theme encourages us all to break the silence, offer support, and show empathy to those who may be struggling. Together, we can create a culture of openness, understanding, and care.

Juneteenth is a national holiday that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. June 19th, 1865, enslaved persons were announced free by Union troops in Galveston, Texas, and became an annual tradition celebrated as "Juneteenth."
Our theme this year, "Their Wildest Dreams," honors our ancestors' history and achievements. We are committed to staying connected to the ongoing fight for equality, justice, and positive change within and beyond our organization. Today, we’re celebrating International Menstrual Health Day. Did you know that at least 1 in 4 women of reproductive age around the world currently lacks access to the necessary products to manage their periods? Menstruation is still considered a private matter and is often associated with embarrassment or negative connotations. At Mountain America Expo Cente, we are committed to supporting women and being a part of the change. We take pride in offering complimentary menstrual products for women in our bathrooms at the Mountain America Expo Center and the Salt Palace and will continue to support this initiative.

We are excited to be part of the county’s “Flipping Your Strip” initiative! Last Thursday, our GM, Dan Hayes, along with Sandy City, Taylorsville City, and Salt Lake County Mayors, kicked things off at the Expo Center. This project focuses on creating water-efficient landscaping and promoting drought-tolerant localscape. Mountain America Expo Center is proud to contribute alongside other facilities, helping save approximately four million gallons of water annually.
So, what are the benefits of creating waterwise landscaping? Easy maintenance, reduced water usage, environmental enhancements, lower long-term maintenance, simpler irrigation systems, and a more attractive landscape.
