Sometimes the cheapest doesn't mean the best value. Often times, service professionals will offer prices that are very low, then include several add-ons or fees at the time of purchase. When you are looking for any service based product like catering, venue, DJ, photography, or entertainment rental, make sure you ask for an invoice or contact that clearly defines all charges and taxes. A prime example of this is the Dumpster Bag by Waste Management. You can buy the bad at Home Depot for $30, but then have to pay ridiculous fees for them to come pick it up. Don't get ripped off from a horrible marketing trick that many service businesses use.

The two biggest things that will help a DJ at an event is the list of music you would like (atleast the genres you want heard - or not heard) and timeline for the event. Whether it is a wedding, birthday, corporate party, or even a public 5k, having a direction will also improve the quality of music and ultimately your event.
