Passing down my loves which are widely varied but most importantly the fellowship of bluegrass music. 3 megapixels was a big deal. The quality of the photo may not be great but memories they bring are priceless. All posted here will NOT be about bluegrass. I'm known as Lovin' Bluegrass to many. A few weddings lined up for friends this year. With their permission I'll be sharing those. I'll also be sharing a few of my favorite real photographers work. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The differences in each of us is what makes the world go round.

Well my last post was about my friend Tim James. I talked about how we catch up on emails occasionally. Today I received one I never wanted to read. Many of you may know Tim if you lived in Central NC and followed Carolina Junction. Unfortunately, he lost his 23 year old son in a plane crash. His only child. Tim lived a few miles from my house many years till he relocated several years back for work. My heart is broken. Tim is one of the good guys. Someone I can always count on if I need a friend. Makes me sick to my stomach. Please remember them in your prayers. It took Tim a while to let me know. I'm sure it was hard for him to type. I should of knew there was a reason he had been on my mind.

DALLAS TEXAS – Logan Timothy James, beloved son of Tim and Kim James entered eternal rest on January 24, 2024, at the age of 23. He was born on November 3, 2000, in Pinehurst, North Carolina. His life was tragically cut short in a plane crash where Logan was always at peace doing what he […]

16 years ago I uploaded my first bluegrass video to YouTube. Back then I was told I would get in trouble. I am used to trouble. I was managing booking for a few bands at the time. I knew they needed to be promoted with a video. Hardly a bluegrass video could be found online at the time. Back then I had a 3 MP camera. If it weren't for this banjo playing fella I most likely wouldn't of ever picked up a camera. Lord knows I love a banjo and a high tenor voice (like Mike Jenkins owns). I filmed many a legend such as JD Crow, Charlie Cushman and one I love to pieces Jim Fraley. JD made me sweat profusely just talking to him. A shy pig Farmer's Daughter from the flat land of NC. I remember Jeff Parker pulling me to dance during a performance at Myrtle Beach and I was red as a beat. He apologized later. Even if someone mentioned my name from the stage I would get hot inside. I was the last person I would of ever dreamed to be put into the limelight. My daddy was a seen and not heard kinda man. Stern. Made me believe in children so much. Encouraging them. I can say a child has never let me down...parents are a whole different story. Young people and old find your purpose and follow your dreams. As a child daddy loved Hee Haw, specially Grandpa Jones. I grew up on good documentaries and TV that was worth watching. I always was taking photos as a child. History was important to my Daddy and that transferred to me. God bless Tim James for all the adventures he started by being a good friend I wanted to help out. Helping out some doesn't always end well. Tim and I still occasionally email each other to catch up. Below is one of those first videos. Tim on banjo. We meet thru work his company maintained our fleet of mixers.

Tim James on banjo in a noisy Rudionos in Fuquay-Varina. He's an excellent songwriter for anyone looking for songs. I can put you in touch with my dear friend. From a lifetime ago it seems. Carolina Junction will always be special in my heart. I would guess the video is around 23 yrs old as Tim's son is now in college. He was not born when I met Tim. I think I filmed it to send out on a CD to promoters long before I uploaded it.

The Classic "John Henry" song performed by the Carolina Junction Band. Performed the Tim James way, on the banjo.

Since I have been enjoying some me time I have worked on family genealogy and found out I am related to Hiatts from the mountain areas of NC. Maybe there is hope that mountain music runs thru my veins. Genes are interesting because my Daddy loved the music I love....the Hiatt clan is related on my Mama's side...her maiden name is Ross and her Mom was a Ring. So happy to find out this information! Makes me cherish even more a couple Hiatt videos I have filmed.

A night out enjoying music from another former country gentleman brought back memories of this special one. Bill was one of a kind. I loved the time we enjoyed together on the bluegrass road. The night he passed I had no idea he was ill. Something woke me up and wouldn't let me go back to sleep with him on my mind. So I did a search and found out he had passed hours earlier. By morning I took some of my favorite footage of him and created this tribute for his beautiful daughter in Florida. This brought me a new friendship. She is one special person like her Daddy. We love and miss you Bill Yates. I bet you are up there telling some tales. All who knew you were the fortunate ones. What a voice.

Didn't get the privilege of knowing Brien as well as I would have liked. Always busy filming. The few times we did get to chat I enjoyed every second. He was such a talented man. His family always by his side. I feel people sometimes without even having to know them. I miss his playing and seeing him around even tho most times it was from a distance. Man do I love a good banjo tune played just right! I pray, as always, his family is doing well. I can't imagine their void especially during the holidays. Hope they are well and happy. Living life to the fullest. Filming as much as I did...he stood out.
