What a great memory to pop up. Bob Froschle was an incredible person. He was a great musician and was on the team that negotiated the first collective bargaining agreement between Orange County Musicians Union, Local 7, AFM and Disneyland!

CONGRATULATIONS to bassist Bob Froeschle! On this day, 75 YEARS AGO, he joined the Local! Way to go, Bob! He will be honored at the Life Member Meeting on November 6th!

In solidarity

As we approach opening night this Friday, we would like to make our patrons aware that the musicians of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra are currently operating without a contract and have been since July 31st, despite musicians’ best efforts to negotiate with management throughout the summer.

While we are excited for what lies ahead this year, we are deeply concerned about the lack of progress in negotiations to secure a future for the musicians of the San Francisco Opera.

The Orchestra needs and deserves the stability of a continued commitment from management to our ensemble as much as the San Francisco Opera needs and deserves a stable world-class orchestra that is not devalued. We love the Opera and our patrons, and we are excited about our season, but our current situation of working without a contract is untenable.

We urge management to negotiate in good faith with a renewed sense of urgency –today, tonight, and tomorrow so that we can reach a multi-year agreement now, before the Opening of the upcoming Opera season.
