Santa Barbara Dance Arts is celebrating 23 years of community, artistry, and the core belief that dance lessons teach life lessons. Under the direction of Alana Tillim, Dance Arts promises to provide a safe and healthy place for emerging and pre-professional artists. We are a full-service studio that offers recreational and pre-professional classes for ages 2-72 (we want that number to keep growin

g!). We rent studio space for artists, events, and family friendly parties or we can be the host! Our popular birthday parties are not limited to kids… we can give your bachelorette party or next girls weekend a twist! We are proudly partnered with the non-profit Arts Mentorship Program and our relationship allows us to bring the healing gift of dance to our community's most vulnerable populations through scholarships and programs. Together, we help local artist find affordable rehearsal space in order to maintain Santa Barbara’s thriving arts culture. More than this, we are a hub for the arts community to collaborate and create. Come dance with us! performed on MTV, Cirque du Soleil, and stages across the globe, while our alumni and student teachers bring a sense of community and tradition that is important at Dance Arts. Our unique partnership with the Arts Mentorship Program allows us to offer scholarships and affordable rehearsal space at our beautiful studios. Plus, our unprecedented master class series feature superstars from So You Think You Can Dance and America’s Best Dance Crew. Destination Dance, our famed summer camp, offers flexibility and fun for your dancer and a unique opportunity to train intensively and improve performance and technique. Phil Wright is executive producer and choreographer of "Disney Fam Jam,” and he has worked with some of the biggest names in music including Lil Nas X, Will Smith, MC Hammer, TLC and G-Eazy and Cardi B.
We are so grateful for him coming to SBDA to teach a Hip Hop master class!!! This will be a memorable one and we hope to see everyone there!

Cameron Weathers is 16 years old and is very proud to be in Apex dance company. She is in 11th grade at Santa Barbara High. Cameron loves drawing, dancing, hanging out with her friends, and learning new tricks. Cameron has been dancing at SBDA for 6 years. She mostly trained in Hip Hop and Jazz when she was a young dancer. This is her fifth year in company. Cameron is very enthusiastic about taking master classes and loves to learn new things and work hard. Cameron desires to become a professional dancer. She also intends to go to a fully dance-based college. Dance helps Cameron cope with all the stress of school by letting her move freely. She loves to choreograph dances with her friends and practice her technique in various ways. Her biggest inspiration was Briar Nolet when she saw her on “World Of Dance.” It pushed her to work harder to become the best dancer she can be. She wants to focus on being a leader to the younger companies and striving to be better every day.

Brynn is a 7th grader at La Colina Junior High. She is a part of the Vibe company this year and has been loving every minute of it! She used to dance at Santa Barbara dance arts when she was a preschooler, but took a long break from dance and pursued other sports like softball and soccer. She started taking dance classes again as a six grader at dance network knew that she had found what she was passionate about. She was so inspired by the Santa Barbara dance arts spring show and knew she wanted to take classes there. Even when Brynn is not dancing at the studio she is often in her garage choreographing dances, or learning routines from YouTube. Dance is a place where she can express herself and come alive.

Amelie is 15 and in 10th at SBHS. She’s been dancing for 8 years and has been in company for 3. Amelie is captain of Impulse for the second time this year and was a previous member of vibe. She is so grateful for all the experiences she’s had with her SBDA family. Amelie has one sister who is nine,dogs and a chinchilla! Her favorite thing to do outside of dance is to be with her friends. This is her third year going to dance competitions. She feels that they are a really good way to improve. When she’s older she wants to do something that helps support mental health. She loves listening and finding ways to help people. She’s also excited to be a leader this year! She always tries her best to set a good example by being supportive and kind. Her biggest influence is her parents and teachers. They have always supported her and she’s so grateful. Dance has also taught her many things about hard work, and belonging. Go SBDA!

Jazlynn Gonzalez is a 13 year old dancer, born and raised in Santa Barbara. She attends Santa Barbara Jr. High and hopes to one day become a veterinarian or neurologist. She enjoys spending time with her family, dogs and friends. She has an amazing personality and loves dancing hip hop.

Taylor Alfama is 17 years old and is a proud member of Axis Dance Company. She is in 12th grade at Carpinteria High school. Taylor has been dancing for 15 years, this will be her third year in company and her second year on Team Dance Arts. Last year, she was captain of Team Dance Art’s lyrical group dance and now is captain of Axis Dance Company. She has been to many competitions like Nycda, Revel, Rainbow and Guidance. She has been assisting classes for many seasons now and one day wants to teach a class of her own. Outside of dance, Taylor loves shopping, traveling and being with people she loves. Dance has always been a big part of her life and she is so excited for this season!

Lillie, a 14-year-old freshman at Laguna Blanca High School, she is a passionate and dedicated dancer, currently a member of both Team Dance Arts and Impulse Dance Company. Her journey into dance began in 2021, inspired by the reality show Dance Moms during the COVID pandemic. Soon after watching ALL the episodes, she quickly enrolled in her first class at SBDA, where her natural talent and enthusiasm for dance was undeniable.
Starting with the Mini Dance Crew, Lillie has advanced within various Company teams and is currently enjoying her time on Impulse and TDA teams. February 2025 will mark her four-year anniversary at SBDA, a milestone in her evolving dance journey. Her commitment and love for dance is matched by the meaningful friendships she has built with her fellow dancers and the wonderful instructors. Lillie’s passion for dance continues to grow with each performance, class, and countless cherished moments at the studio.

Lia Hafner is 17 years old and is a proud member of Apex Dance Company and Team Dance Arts this year. Lia is in 12th grade at San Marcos High School. Outside of dance, she enjoys reading, cooking, and traveling. Before she moved to Santa Barbara in 2017, Lia took gymnastics in Florida for 7 years. This is Lia's 7th year dancing. She has been taking many different dance styles, including jazz, contemporary, modern, hip-hop, ballet, and more. This is her 6th year in company and 2nd year in Apex. Lia has competed at Revel, NYCDA, Revolution, Spotlight, Headliners, and Radix, and attended numerous conventions. She enjoys taking master classes from guest choreographers like Azuki Umeda, Sarah Picard, and more because she gets to explore many different kinds of dance. Dance has allowed Lia to express herself without words and she is able to fully let herself go, without being judged, while dancing. Dance has helped Lia develop crucial life skills, from time management to perseverance.

Salma is a 14 year-old 9th grader at San Marcos High School and a member of VIBE dance company. She started dance 4 years ago and has since trained in Hip Hop, Jazz and Ballet, then progressed to Crew then Impact and is now Captain of our Vibe dance company. After participating in her first Configuration last year she was inspired to also pursue Team Dance Arts (TDA) and she is excited about competing with the team at NYCDA, Revel and In10city where she knows she’ll continue to learn and sharpen her skills. Outside of school and dance Salma enjoys spending time with friends, going to the beach, shopping and traveling with her family. Salma loves the discipline, hard work and creative outlet that dance offers and she believes her desire of becoming a pediatric surgeon aligns with the dedication, commitment, and precision that dance requires. She loves this year’s theme of RISE because it reminds her that even when life knocks you down, rising is winning.
