Formerly Big Stage Productions, SBSPA offers pre-professional training for students interested in the performing arts. There are three "tracks" offered to students, which are determined by age and auditions. DEBUT TRACK: (Ages 5-8) Students in this track participate in 2 conservatory classes per week (alternating dance/acting, one vocal) and one rehearsal. Emphasis is on learning about the theater
arts, playing with improvisational theater, and learning about the theatrical instruments (body, voice, and mind). Students audition to be in their own short musical. Program is 10 weeks, two times a year. RISING STAR TRACK: (Ages 9-12) Students in this track participate in 2 conservatory classes per week (one alternating dance/acting, one vocal) and one rehearsal. Classes turn into rehearsal time after 6 weeks of instruction. Emphasis is on learning basic technique in all areas (ballet/jazz dance, diction, musical comedy, vocal technique). Students audition to be in their own full length musical, produced by Arete Productions. See schedule for details. REPERTOIRE TRACK: (Ages 13+) Students in this track participate in 3 conservatory classes per week (dance, acting, and vocal) in addition to one rehearsal. Classes turn into rehearsal after 6 weeks of instruction. Emphasis is on extending basic technique and adding stylistic performance enhancements (Broadway jazz/ballet at a more intense level, character development and scenework, higher understanding of musical language). A young, street-wise, New York City kid from the upper West Side, Evan Goldman, is turning 13 soon and is excited about his coming of age Bar Mitzvah. His world is turned upside-down when his parents decide to divorce and his mother moves the two of them from fast-paced Manhattan, New York to the sleepy, no-frills, small-town of Appleton, Indiana. Evan must deal with the hardships of fitting into a new town, his parents' divorce, preparing for his Bar Mitzvah, and maneuvering the complicated social circles of a new school. You will leave feeling wonderful after watching this lively, high-powered musical starring 13 pubescent teenagers navigating the dramas of their young lives.

[The performances included songs from our upcoming Annie Jr. show, original music by DMK Studio members, and pop songs "Maps" by Maroon 5 and "Feel" by Robbie Williams.] ***There are only TWO DAYS LEFT to see DMK Studio and SB SOPA performances at the 2018 SB Fair & Expo Earl Warren Showgrounds.
