The adorable kids in this portrait are our nieces and nephew; Ivy, Maggie and, the newest member of the George family, Lincoln. This newborn session was done back in November when Lincoln was 3 weeks old. Clearly, the girls were instantly in love with their baby brother. Just look at their faces! 😍 But, just 2 weeks after this portrait was taken, their dad (Adam's younger brother, Ryan) was diagnosed with leukemia. It goes without saying that the entire family's world was thrown upside down, but the girls have become the best big sisters/little helpers anyone could hope for.
As many of you know, it has been a long journey already for Ryan, as well as Adam's entire family. We can't thank you enough for all the support, prayers, donations and love so many of you have shown over the last 8 months. So many hurdles have been overcome to get to this point; 76 days in the hospital, tons of chemo, a horrible fungal infection which led to the removal of a lung, a 10% survival chance and then COVID lockdown.
Despite all that, today we received some amazing news. Ryan was finally given a surgery date for his bone marrow transplant on July 8th at City of Hope! This is a critical step in his cancer treatment, but also comes with many risks. There is a lot of preparation that will happen between now and July 8th. We are asking for prayers for Ryan and also his oldest brother, Chris, who (incredibly) is a 100% match for the transplant.
If you want to do something to help, Katieanne is asking people to join in donating blood, which was a critical part of Ryan’s treatment. Go to redcrossblood.org for more info.
