My first little wee harvest of anemones. My friend wanted them for her JC class. 45 requested and exactly 45 bloomed. The stems are still short so early in the season, but aren’t they beautiful?

Have you ever seen a sea anemone opening and closing? Well if you have you will appreciate the name of the anemone flower. The sea creature and the flower are both pronounced the same and both open and close. The flower anemone opens in the daylight and closes again in the evening. Anemones start from ‘corms’ not seeds. Anemone corms look like tiny shriveled acorns but after a lot of time and TLC these little corms will produce anywhere from 10 to 20 flowers! Anemones have a fairly good vase life but like a lot of speciality flowers are not the easiest to grow and ship. Look local for these beautiful springtime flowers!

It seems so weird to be posting a testimonial that throws praise to just me. I wish I was talented enough to grow, plan, design and create the florals for a wedding like Chantelle and Whitney’s. The truth is I am surrounded by a remarkable design team that was also responsible for pulling this off! My praise goes to my friends and teammates.

You all probably know we foster kittens but we are trying something new this time. Meet Rubi! She is a little mutt from . My daughter convinced us to try a dog foster . . . just try it. I'm not much of a dog person. I can name the dogs I have liked throughout my life on both hands. Anyway, today Rubi has been with us for 1 week and I think I may be in love. She is the most polite little girl and a total love bug. In this short amount of time, my daughter has taught her how to sit, stay, play ball, and to just generally have good manners. I am sad thinking she might not be here too long but we are determined not to be a foster failure. Anyway, our next fosters will be kittens so that will help pull me through!

We’re coming off a huge high! Bonnie and Charlie tied the knot recently in the most beautiful and personal setting - at Charlie’s grandpa’s house in Sonoma.

Cute little butterfly finds the last flowers on the farm. Everything has been pulled out and is almost ready to be planted again!

Last week we gave Memorial Hospice bouquets to share with their clients. Giving sure makes you feel great! Thank you to all our friends who came to Flower Friday and made this gift possible. I wish they all could have seen the wonder and delight on the faces of the hospice volunteers when I made the delivery. I swear, I have the best job in the world!!

The beginning of the first Flower Friday! The pickings were slim but the bouquets ended up being beautiful. The season for us is just getting started and I can’t wait for harvest to take more than one morning. It’s such a zen feeling picking blooms right when the sun comes up.
