Maria Wirries is back at The Glenridge to kick off GPAC’s first ever live stream show! She started performing at The Glenridge in 2011 when she was only 13 years old and she has made nine appearances at The Glenridge since then! Singing some of her most requested songs and popular hits, she will be accompanied by Pianist Alan Jay Corey to bring you an exhilarating performance right in your very own home. You will not want to miss this one hour performance!

More fond memories of last season while we curate this coming season's entertainment. In November, Chorus of the Keys dazzled us with heartwarming four-part harmonies. This group raises their voices across a range of music genres—but always interpreted in the all-American barbershop style. In this video, they surprise with a sweet Valentine song.

As we look ahead scheduling our upcoming season, we also remember some of the greats who performed on our stage this past season. In December, "Nate Najar’s Jazz Holiday” featured the great composer and guitarist Nate Najar with Adrian Cunningham on reeds, Chuck Redd on vibraphone, James Suggs on trumpet, John Lamb on bass, Jean Bolduc on drums, and Daniela Soledade on vocals. Najar’s band is a well-oiled jazz machine and never fails to delight. Here he performs Ray Brown's "Blues For Junior" live at the Blue Bamboo Center For The Arts in Winter Park in 2018.

Looking back at another great group that has appeared on our stage--and who we hope to have back in upcoming seasons: The Eddie Metz Trio. This powerhouse jazz trio features bassist and vocalist Nicki Parrot, pianist Rossano Sportiello, and drummer Eddie Metz Jr. Metz has toured with the Count Basie Orchestra, the Bill Allred Classic Jazz Band, the Les Brown Orchestra and many others. Metz has also worked with such greats as Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Arturo Sandoval, Sammy Davis, Jr., Rosemary Clooney, Michael Feinstein, Chick Corea, and Patti Page. Here they performing Peggy Lee's "It's a Good Day." Hope it's GREAT Thursday for all of you!

Looking back as we look ahead to plan the exciting upcoming season. We really enjoyed having Jason Farnham here in January. Called "America’s Funniest Piano Player," this celebrated pianist and vocalist is known across the world as “the guy who plays the piano upside down.” How to describe his crowd-pleasing concerts? Imagine the love child of Victor Borge and Jerry Lee Lewis. See for yourself.

One performer who has graced our stage over the years is the multi-award-winning instrumentalist/vocalist/bandleader Cynthia Sayer. Cynthia is acclaimed by musicians, critics, and fans alike as one of the top four-string banjoists in the world today. Praised for her “drive and virtuosity” by The New York Times, she enthralls audiences with her electrifying, swing-based performances. Her program is a mesmerizing mix of hot jazz, Great American Songbook, old favorites, virtuoso classics, and more. In this video, she's performing "Linger A While," at the New Orleans JazzFest.

Another wonderful group that was scheduled to perform here in April was the Sarasota Earlye Musicke Consort. Talk about old school. This dedicated ensemble performs music from the 1300s to the present on recorders of various shapes and sizes. This woodwind instrument was first documented in the Middle Ages—and it’s lost none of its power. We hope they'll come back next season!

Our intrepid reporter Ben Turoff brings everyone up to date on all sorts of important matters, including beverage and food delivery, a mystery Instacart delivery (anyone missing bananas, granola bars sliced cheese and diet Coke?) and updates about the opening of the Wellness Center, the dining room--and, soon, the Hair With Care Salon. Oh--and happy 101st birthday to Jack Kagan. We're celebrating with Jack, 1 to 3 p.m., at the Thistle Stop. No mask, no cake. Happy Monday!

Another extraordinary group that had been scheduled for our stage on March 14 was The Landscape of Guitar. Performing fiery Spanish guitar pieces like “Malagueña,” to the gorgeous vocal harmonies of “Sounds of Silence,” master guitarist Bruce Hecksel and and singer-songwriter Julie Patchouli take the art of guitar to another dimension with a multimedia concert experience. We look forward to inviting them back!

A performance by the Cashore Marionettes is a celebration of life. Unmatched in artistry, grace and refinement of movement, the internationally acclaimed Cashore Marionettes have redefined the art of puppetry, and astounded audiences throughout the world. They were scheduled to grace our stage on April 21 and we’re sorry that had to be cancelled. But we hope to see them back soon. In the meantime, here's a glimpse of their remarkable artistry.
