Welcome! Founder of Bougie Boards, Gigi Kovach, here! Mom of two, foodie & wine lover, Sarasota native (almost - been here since I was 13!)
I have been endlessly enthusiastic about food ever since I can remember. I spent my free time as a child watching my favorite chefs on the food network and travel channel rather than cartoons, by the age of 8 I was in the kitchen experimenting and creating meals for my family to enjoy. I was so fascinated by the magic of combining unexpected flavors, exploring salty, savory and sweet... and felt so much joy and freedom in the kitchen. Making my meals into art and serving my the love inside my heart on each and every plate.
After I attended college at the University of Central Florida for business, my heart was called to back to my childhood passion of food and I enrolled in culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu. It was there I learned all the fundamentals of classic French cuisine and all about the logistics of operating a kitchen commercially.
Shortly after culinary school I became pregnant with my first child and my career in food ended before it began. I knew I wanted to be present for my kids, so my passion for cooking was channeled back into my home, where I have been cooking and entertaining for the last 8 years -- making treasured memories for our family and friends.
In the last several years I have discovered a deep passion for entertaining and creating elaborate edible displays of meats, cheeses, fruits, you name it! After a few requests from friends and family to create boards & displays for their parties - the Bougie Board was born.
I believe that food should look beautiful, taste just as good, and invite conversation and story telling for people to gather and create memories that last a lifetime.
My values are integrated in everything that I do with my business. I believe that food is best when enjoyed fresh and in season, sourced from local producers. I believe that sustainability is of the utmost importance. Enjoying foods from local producers supports our local economy, has a smaller impact on our environment, and helps our strengthen our community's food systems. All of my packaging is recyclable and minimizing food waste is a top priority.
By following the seasons and supporting our local farmers and makers, we create the best looking and tasting food showcase the abundance of our Florida communities.
I love to collaborate with like minded passionate people in our community and also love to be challenged. I thrive on creativity and enjoy customizing everything to meet your needs.
