Looking for detail shots of your wedding? This is one of the many benefits of hiring a second shooter!
While the first shooter is capturing the main focus points, the second shooter’s responsibility is to capture all of the supporting content, like the gifts you gave your bridesmaids, for example. You can also think of a second shooter as someone with a different perspective! It’s great to have another photographer getting up high, shooting far away, or creating a different type of creative image so you have lots to choose from!

So, you know you’re getting ready, but do you know how much time it will take? A trial run of hair and makeup always helps to estimate how much time you will need to look (and feel!) your best.
To ensure you’ll have enough time, add another 30 to 40 minutes to your timeline as a safety net for any issues that could arise. If nothing comes up, you will be ahead of schedule, guaranteeing your day will be smooth sailing. We have found that the average getting-ready time is about one and a half to two hours for each person for both wedding parties.

When you imagine your wedding day, you picture the best day ever, ?! Years from now, when you look back at your video and photographs, you’ll reminisce about just how perfect your wedding was. That is until you come across picture after picture of your guests leaning into the aisle to get that “perfect shot” on their iPhone. Unfortunately, in our social media driven society, we are seeing this at weddings more and more. Everyone wants to get the perfect picture for Instagram or Snapchat.
Here are our top 3 reasons why we love !
📸It lets your guests have fun and be PRESENT. Instead of focusing on taking pictures, they can enjoy the night you worked so hard on and really take it all in.
📸It makes OUR job easier. A wedding ceremony is filled with countless little moments that require focus and anticipation by the photographer. Having to adjust our stance or work around people that hold their phones out at the last minute makes it difficult to capture those once in a lifetime shots.
📸You won’t have a ton of grainy, unflattering pictures published on social media for everyone who wasn’t at the wedding to see. The first public photo of the two of you as a married couple will be a polished, professional image that YOU choose.

If you live in Upstate New York, you know we are still battling the freezing cold (yes, even in March!). But even on the coldest days, LOVE can warm things up!
Here are some of our top tips for taking beautiful winter engagement photos, like Kristen & Ethan:
Be smart about your wardrobe. If you’re planning to wear a dress, choose a full-length dress that you can wear tights under to keep you warm. If you don’t have sleeves, bring a pashmina, a fir drape, or a stylish winter coat. Even if you want to try a few photos without the coat/scarf, it’s really nice to have it with you to stay warm between shots.
Bring cozy boots to slip on in between photos. You may like the *idea* of striking heels for your engagement look, but your feet will hate you after! It may be icy and snowy, so bring some boots that you can easily slip on and off to keep your feet warm and your heels in good condition.
Be mindful of your makeup. You’re likely to have naturally rosy cheeks, so you wont need a lot of blush. And make sure your make-up artist knows that you’re being photographed outside!

This stationary from Ink Revival helped set the tone and fit the venue and vibe perfectly.

Getting ready is half the fun, which is why we want your photos to be stunning! 😍
When you’re choosing the place to get ready, consider the size and lighting. As professional photographers, we’ll always be prepared no matter what the light is like. However, natural light is the most flattering. You also want the space to be big enough for your bridal party, hair and makeup artists, photographers, and whoever else you may have present.
While you’re getting ready, we’ll take the opportunity to photograph all the little details and sentimental items. Gather these a few days in advance so you don’t need to worry about them the morning of your wedding. These items can include family heirlooms, perfume or cologne, save the dates, your wedding rings, or your shoes.
We also recommend planning some activities while you’re getting ready. Guys don’t typically need as long in the morning, so consider going to a driving range in the morning, heading somewhere for breakfast, or going to a brewery. For the ladies, plan some activities you can enjoy while your hair and makeup are getting done. Put on your favorite playlist, enjoy a cocktail or two, and play some games so everyone has fun the morning of.

To help you make the most of your experience, we have some tips to share!
💍 Choose a location that has meaning. Don’t focus too much on what it looks like - a good photographer will be able to make any location beautiful!
💍 Wear clothes, hair, and makeup that feel like YOU and reflect your personality.
💍 During the session, do an activity together that you both love. This will make the photos feel less forced and allows us to capture your natural chemistry.

From middle school friends, to boyfriend and girlfriend in college, to now husband and wife, Zack and Devin have been through it all together. Saratoga has been the backdrop for so many of their big moments, from their first date at Max Londons to Zack proposing in Congress park back in 2019 and celebrating at the Henry Street Taproom afterwards.
It only felt right that these two chose to get married at The Canfield Casino and we loved capturing every minute of their day.

Guys, don’t think we forgot about you! Brides typically receive the most attention before and on the day of the wedding, but it’s your day too. Look and feel your best with these five tips.
⛳️ Plan an Activity. Going for a run or getting your all of your guys together and playing a round of golf is an excellent way to start off your wedding day!
⏰ Start Your Day Early. Even if you don’t have a ton of activities to do before the ceremony starts, wake up early so you can start checking the things off your list and allow buffer time in case anything unexpected arises and takes up too much of your time!
💕 Get Sentimental. Do something a little extra special for your bride the morning of. If you know she’s going to be a little jittery, send her a heartfelt letter! Nothing will put a bride at ease more than a love note from her soon to be husband.
🍽 Eat a Big Meal. This may go without saying, but your wedding day is going to go by really fast. Between attending to your new wife and all of your guests, photos and dancing you might not have as many opportunities to eat before the reception. We recommend going to your favorite restaurant or having your food delivered to where you and the guys are getting ready the morning of!
✔️ Make a checklist. Nothing will add stress to your day like forgetting something important! We recommend making a list of everything you need to pack, and double check you have everything the night before.

We’re firm believers that you shouldn’t just show your love and affection when you’re told to, but rather in little (and sometimes BIG) ways throughout all of the weeks and months of the year.

Happy WEEKEND from your friends at HCo 🥂🍾 it’s crazy to think that just 4 years ago I convinced Dave to take the (very scary) leap of faith, leave his soft cozy full time job in finance and join me on this adventure of a lifetime, and NOW we’ve added a few more bundles of sarcastic humor to the mix, Molli, Joe & Courtney. No 2 days at the studio are ever the same but we always get the job done with style. We are pillars of positivity (unless we’ve gone 6+ hours without eating) and we are constantly pushing one another to step outside our comfort zones and reach for the stars. We are boundary testers, we are stupid-joke makers, we are movie-quote aficionados, we appreciate the quirk in every family (admit it, you have them) and more than anything we know that special moments are fleeting and you need someone that’s going to capture those special moments before you even realize how special they truly are. You deserve it. 💕 side note: I feel like we totally need to make our theme song “lean back” given the response to our “funny pose” photo. Lol who are we?!
