That warmer beach weather is creeping in, and every day I feel myself itching more and more to be at the beach chasing clients each night. Something about that time change that makes parenting so hard, and photographing sunset clients so much better. 🌞 Did you know the sun will officially not set before 7pm from now until the next time change, which means you can plan to meet me around 6:15pm for the next few months, but they our meeting time will be moving back a little bit more everyday. The last few weeks have been baby central over here at Kayla Rochelle photography. So many new little babies and they've been giving me all the nostalgic, squealy feels. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again… I love the beach always but winter beach may creep just above the beach at all other times of the year. Sweater and shorts weather? Shell picking post storms? The ability to run for miles without anyone around?! It’s magic. 🐚🦪

I am so grateful that I've gotten to spend some time over the last 2 days with the ladies attending the Beyond the Tongue retreat here in Charleston. This group of pediatric therapists came from around the country to a beach house on I.O.P to spend days working together, training, talking about all things business and most importantly, creating a tribe that can lift each other up. I was able to take photos of them learning, spent time talking to them about leveling up their social media strategy and last night joined them to capture headshot images for them all. We are in different industries of course, but for me being in a room of other female business owners is so cup filling. I'm so glad I got to meet each of them and can't wait to keep an eye online at all the amazing things they've got in their future! ⭐

I've taken a lot of photos of my kids over the years, but some photos just HIT so good every time I see them. This is one of them. In fact it's been my phone wallpaper, computer wallpaper, the header on my website and FB page, and every so often I give it a look over just to make me happy. Did you know I help to create branding and content photography for small business'? It's a part of my photography business that doesn't get as much airtime over on social media but it's such a fun segment of the work that I'm able to create. I've met some amazing entrepreneurs and getting to see them excel in their field while I stand on the sidelines and capture just a slice of that is such a joy. Plus getting to see how they utilize all those new photos in their own marketing and content is like a cherry on top!

Trust me when I say, that a maternity photo shoot with your subsequent pregnancies and so much more special then your first. Mostly because when you're also chasing kids around you spend much less time sitting around and appreciating your pregnancy. An hour at the beach to capture this new chapter is exactly what you need to celebrate being on the edge of a new chapter.

Listen, I'm just going to call a spade a spade for a moment... IG went and changed the dimensions of the photos you see in your feed and in my profile and frankly it's really messing with my whole flow. Suddenly a photo I would normally post without thinking just doesn't seem like it's fits the new sizing vibe. Change is not good when there is already a system in place! Luckily I've got hundreds of images I'd love to show and frankly not enough time to share them all so I'll eventually get the new system worked out. My calendar for the next few weeks includes a couple of new little babes. There are few things as special to me as getting to be apart of welcoming your baby with photos to commemorate the birth, but to also be apart of introducing them to your community with the photos you'll be sending to everyone who matters to you. The new-ness, the sweet-ness that comes with the birth of a baby, nothing seems as appropriate for the beginning of a new year does it?!

Well... here we are staring down the face of a snowstorm in the south. ❄ A first for my Northern family since we've been lucky enough to enjoy the warm winters since we moved here. The excitement is at a peak with schools already cancelled and store shelves empty. I dug out all of our hats and gloves and we're prepared to hunker down and enjoy whatever the skies may bring.

That list of work I had to get done this week? Looks like it'll have to wait a few days. I'll be checking my emails occasionally and will sneak in what work I can here and there but seems my work will be taking more of an 'as needed' schedule for the next few days.

All in the name of making family memories!
