No, my backyard isn't as aesthetically pleasing as I wish it was. There are lots of things I'd love to have the time, and money, and patience to improve in our space but what our backyard is is proof of how hard our kids play. It matters more to me that our space is inviting to our kiddos and the big patches of dirt? Proof of how hard they run, how deep they dig and how much fun that they have. One day my backyard will be playset less, and my landscaping will be perfection and I'll miss seeing the fun outside the window. So for now I'll look at our hand-me-down, rusted and sun bleached dome and smile. This is proof of summer fun. šŸ˜Ž

Just a little reminder, no-one said you need to have a formal, stiff, professional outfit on for your branding images. What you should wear is something that feels like the service that you provide. A Kindergarten teacher shouldn't take branding photos in a pant suit. A lawyer shouldn't take branding photos in a two piece track suit. There is no right or wrong thing to wear, but there is certainly a better choice in what to wear and that better choice is the outfit that fits the industry.

I said what I said.

Living near water, with a toddler who loved boats means taking the ferry whenever you're itching for a toddler adventure. 🚤 Truly a dream come true for a curious little one.

Is this a technically 'sound' photo? Nope.
Is it sharp? Nope.
Does it meet all the requirements of a good photo? Nope.
Do I care? NOT A BIT.
In fact, I'm so deeply in love with this creative image. So deeply, deeply in love with this accidentally beautiful photo.

When it comes to body image, I understand. We’ve all been sold an idea of what ā€œperfectā€ looks like. But I’ve also seen firsthand how damaging that voice can be. We skip printing a photo or sharing a memory because we don’t like how we look. But guess what? Your kids? They don’t see the same flaws you do. They see you. The way you hold them, laugh with them, love them. That’s what matters most. You don’t have to love every photo in your gallery. You get to feel what you feel. But my hope is that through my lens, you’ll see yourself the way your family sees you—strong, radiant, and absolutely worthy of being remembered. So yes, talk to me about your insecurities. We’ll navigate them together. I’ll do everything I can during the session to support your comfort, confidence, and care. Because at the end of the day, you’re showing up. And that’s beautiful. You’re doing the dang thing. You’re showing up for yourself, for your people, for the ones who’ll look back on these photos someday. And I am so, so honored to be the one documenting that for you. You’re gorgeous. Let me show you.

I've been having the most fun chasing families on the beach in the evenings for the last few weeks. Summer season, is such a sweet photography season at the beach. All the golden hues, all the warm breezes and all of the sweet families! I had to pause my editing party to share this one photo from a recent session. I know the 'everyone looking and smiling' photos are important, but it's the ones that are the in-between, real life details that just make my creative heart soar.

I want to talk about something that might feel a little uncomfortable—but really shouldn’t be. Let’s talk about insecurities. We all have them. Every single person I’ve photographed has something they feel unsure about when it comes to being in front of the camera. And I want you to know—**that’s okay.**Here’s what I’ve learned after 13+ years of photographing families: those things you worry about? Most people don’t see them. I mean that. I’ve had people email me after getting their photos to ask if I can slim their arms or hide a feature they’re uncomfortable with. And I’m always surprised, because I never once noticed those things the way they did.Our brains can be so mean to us sometimes. But here’s the beautiful thing—your photos don’t lie. They show joy. They show connection. They show the love your family sees in you. That’s what I’m looking to capture. If you do have things you’re nervous about—tell me! I want to know. If you prefer I avoid lower angles or you're worried about a scar or a hair issue, I’ll adjust. If your child has a visible difference they don’t talk about, just let me know. My job is to create a space where you feel safe and seen. I won’t bring it up—but I’ll work with sensitivity and respect.
