Fiddle Leaf Fig Tuesday
Bring elegance into your home with the stunning fiddle leaf fig! Known for its large, glossy heart shaped leaves, this plant makes a bold statement. Hereā€™s how to keep it thriving:
Light:
Loves bright, indirect light. Place it near a sunny window but avoid harsh direct sunlight that can scorch its leaves.
Watering:
Water when the top 2 inches of soil are dry. Too much water can lead to root rot, so make sure the pot has drainage holes.
Humidity:
This tropical beauty thrives in higher humidity. Mist the leaves or use a humidifier to replicate its natural environment.
Temperature:
Prefers a warm spot between 65ā€“75Ā°F. Avoid cold drafts or placing it near heaters or air conditioners.
Repotting:
Repot every 1-2 years into a pot 1-2 inches larger to give those roots room to grow.
Common Problems:
Brown Spots or Edges: Usually a sign of dry air or inconsistent watering. Increase humidity and water more evenly.
Yellow Leaves: This can signal overwatering. Let the soil dry out before watering again.
Drooping Leaves: Could indicate thirst or stress from being moved. Fiddle leaf figs love stability!

Pink Princess philodendron
Light: When grown indoors, the pink princess philodendron can tolerate a couple hours of direct light, which may help to increase its variegation. If you do not have a location in your home that receives enough light, buying a grow light for this plant is recommended. Without enough light, the pink princesses' leaves will quickly begin reverting back to green, and it will lose its stunning variegation.
Soil: As an aroid, the pink princess philodendron enjoys airy, well-draining soil that is high in organic matter. A mixture of one part standard potting soil, one part perlite, and one part orchid bark is ideal for the pink princess.
Water: Allow the top half of the soil to dry out between waterings and then water well. Usually, this means you will need to water your plant approximately once a week in the spring and summer, and once every 1 to 2 weeks in the fall and winter.
Ensure that your pink princess is never sitting in waterlogged soil as they are susceptible to root rot. As a general rule, it is far easier to overwater your pink princess philodendron than to underwater it so if you are unsure about whether it needs water, err on the side of caution and wait a few more days test soil by inserting finger up to knuckle if moist at all leave it be for several more days and re-check.
The pink princess philodendron does best in warm, humid conditionsā€”although typical household temperature and humidity levels are fine for these hardy plants. Ideally, keep your plant in temperatures between 65 and 79 degrees Fahrenheit

Monstera Tuesday:
Care Guide for Your Swiss Cheese Plant!
Transform your space with the stunning Monstera, known for its dramatic, split leaves! Hereā€™s everything you need to keep it thriving:

Light:
Bright, indirect sunlight is ideal. Too much direct sun can scorch the leaves, but it also wonā€™t mind slightly lower light!

Watering:
Water every 1-2 weeks. Let the top 2-3 inches of soil dry out before watering again. Pro tip: Always use a pot with drainage holes to prevent root rot.

Humidity:
These tropical beauties LOVE humidity. Mist their leaves 2-3 times a week or use a humidifier to keep them happy!

Fertilizer:
Feed with a balanced fertilizer once a month during spring and summer for lush, vibrant growth. No feeding is needed in winter.

Support Your Monstera:
Add a moss pole or trellis so its aerial roots can climb. Itā€™ll look just like itā€™s in its rainforest home!

Common Troubleshooting:
Yellow Leaves? Likely overwateringā€”check soil moisture.
Brown Tips? Increase humidity and water appropriately check soil.
Drooping Leaves? Look for low light or underwatering.

Fun Fact: Monstera leaves develop their iconic splits as they grow to better withstand wind and rain in the wild. Bring a bit of the jungle into your home today!

As Valentineā€™s Day approaches, I always try to educate people about ordering flowers online. Please do yourself a favor and order from a brick and mortar flower shop and not an order gatherer. Order gatherers like Avas flowers, just flowers, from you flowers, 1800 flowers, etc. They arenā€™t an actual flower shop. They simply gather the order and send it over teleflora , FTD, or other wire services. They donā€™t fill orders, and they donā€™t know when we can deliver, what we have, or the prices we need to charge for what you are ordering. They also charge you more because they need a cut, also. They get a cut out of the wire service (20%) just to send it. Which comes out of your flower bouquet.
So look for a physical address of where youā€™re placing your order. If you can google directions and drive there, itā€™s a brick and mortar flower shop. Make sure you are on their website if you are ordering online! Or, if in doubt, call them and ask a few questions before placing your order and make sure they are in your area. Thereā€™s no harm placing it online as long as you know who is handling the order. (www.coedflowers.com)

Order flowers online from your florist in Sault Ste Marie, MI. CO-ED Flowers & Gifts Inc., offers fresh flowers and hand delivery right to your door in Sault Ste Marie.
