MISSION:
In the Savannah Arts community, the Armstrong Fine Arts Box Office serves as the front line of patron relations for all art, music and theatre annual events. The Box Office also functions as a visible and important resource hub, disseminating wide-ranging information about other Armstrong events, Armstrong academics, and related Arts events throughout Savannah. Internally, the Box Office

provides support of administrative and tactile nature for ongoing operations for various art, music and theatre programs and activities. VISION:
Most essentially, through the dedication of its team members, the Armstrong Fine Arts Box Office builds for our patrons a sense of community by cheerfully providing extraordinary event-ticketing and patron-relations services. We also facilitate a larger arts dialogue and interchange within savannah through the promotion of opportunities for active participation in the multitude of Arts activities on and off our beautiful arboretum campus.

DOC Savannah is excited to announce a special screening of Portraits of Coastal Georgia
in the Ben Tucker Theatre at the Savannah Cultural Arts Center on Thursday, December 12th at 7:30 PM.
The screening features five captivating documentary short films from around Coastal Georgia.
Portraits of Coastal Georgia offers a unique glimpse into a variety of stories from local filmmakers including
Patrick Longstreth and Caroline Josey Karoki and students from the Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club,
Georgia Southern University, and Savannah Arts Academy.
At the end of the screening, stay for a brief Q&A with our filmmakers.

Audtions for our spring musical Ride the Cyclone will be held on Nov. 18 from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at Jenkins Hall and Nov. 19 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Jenkins Hall. Show dates are April 3,4,5

Actors should prepare 16-32 bars of a song from a musical and provide sheet music (with chords) upon arrival at the audition. Callbacks will take place after the auditions on the 19th. A dance call will take place. Please wear clothes and shoes that are easy to move in.

Women in the Arts

Women in the Arts Symposium (WIA) is a cross-disciplinary symposium including Georgia Southern University faculty and students, as well as the greater Savannah area community. WIA creates a lively, multi-disciplinary, celebratory event open to all. This year’s theme is Taking up Space, inspired by contemporary artist Kirsten Stolle’s sculptural piece, 'Deconstructing Janson', 2019. Having removed all of the male artists and works, Stolle’s piece leaves the traditional Art History textbook a shadow of its former self: more empty space than a book, it barely stands. This year, the symposium is dedicated to stepping into that space, allowing all definitions of women to make themselves and their work seen and heard. This year’s event will be presented virtually on April 1 from 1:30-5 p.m. This year’s interdisciplinary event is inspired by Alice Walker’s essay “In Search of our Mothers Garden.” It will feature presentations by Georgia Southern faculty and students with a panel discussion featuring author, comedian, philanthropist, community organizer and speaker, Dr. Bertice Berry, Ph.D.

Happy #worldtheatreday! . . . In 2012, Armstrong’s Theatre program commemorated 75 years of performances dating back to Armstrong Junior College’s 1937 town-and-gown production of “Three Cornered Moon.” Today, performances, such as those by our Masquers Theatre Troupe, can be seen at our theater complex, Jenkins Hall, located off Arts Drive. Jenkins Hall houses our 180-seat proscenium mainstage theater, cozy black-box theater and camera studio that serves our acting-for-the-screen and Film Production (MMFP) programs. The Masquers student theatre troupe continues to fulfill its mission forged many years ago: to produce a season of plays each year to enlighten and entertain the Armstrong Campus and Savannah community. The Masquers is an organization open to all Armstrong Campus students regardless of academic major. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Through financial sponsorship, the Office of Student Activities has awarded the Masquers the ability to provide the community with quality live theatre while permitting all students to participate to the fullest capacity.
