Seed saving isn’t just for farmers or super put together gardeners. Seed saving can be done by anyone.
Take five minutes and go out to see if any of your plants have “died” or gone to seed.
A simple trick is to take a dead bloom and break it open. Then you can take the seeds out.
I keep mine in a lunch sack aka small brown paper bag.
Easy seeds to save include zinnias, celosia, marigolds (in the video here), and cosmos.
Note - most of these are open pollinated seeds so you may not get an exact match to the flowers you had this year.
But that’s ok, right? Embrace the unpredictability and beauty of the garden.
This year let’s try and save a little seed to experiment with next spring.

I used to feel bad about this…

Holding your dream with curiosity means…
1. Becoming a lifelong learner. “I get to be a first year student every year,” Japanese farmer Kamikura-San says. Embrace being new at things. You’ll enjoy life more.
2. Be kind to yourself. Take walks. Take deep breaths. Buy the treat or don’t. Ask yourself would I say these exact words to my best friend or someone I love dearly.
3. Is it true? Is it worthy of your thoughts? No? Then stop letting it run circles in your brain.
4. The path to successfully reaching your dream is rarely if ever linear. Enjoy the journey.
5. Once you achieve your dream, embrace the disappointment. Our dreams were never meant to satisfy us. Once you’ve moved past that (and let it take its time) look for someone who you can help on their journey.
