As the year draws to a close, we can’t help but reflect on the incredible journey Protea Farm has taken. It all started with a big leap—from the tech world to a dream of sharing kindness and joy through flowers. The Protea, a symbol of strength and courage, has been our guiding light.

:: We planted the seeds for our very own flower farm, growing the blooms that fill our bouquets and arrangements. Farming is no joke, but it’s been worth every moment!
:: We powered through Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day, fulfilling countless orders and events—what a whirlwind!
:: We started offering classes focused on learning, floral design, meditation, and self-care.
:: We opened a beautiful store in Saxapahaw, complete with a gift shop and a space for classes.

We wrapped up meditation classes this year with two transformative sessions focused on 'Gratutide' and 'Reflection and Renewals'. What better way to mark another year of life than by pausing to honor the blessings, reflect on the journe and set intentions for the year ahead?

🌸 Spotlight on the Stunning Pink Mink Protea🌸

In our recent flower design and wreath classes, we’ve been absolutely captivated by the **Pink Mink Protea**—a true showstopper in the world of blooms! With its vibrant pink petals and its feathery “boa” top, this unique flower is as sophisticated as it is striking, resembling a mink stole delicately draped on the edge of a bloom.

Also known as Protea Neriifolia, this beauty hails from South Africa, specifically the Fynbos family of flowers, and is celebrated for its elegance and timeless charm. Whether as the focal point of a bouquet or adding flair to a holiday wreath, the Pink Mink Protea brings a touch of natural luxury to any design.

Protea flowers were named after Proteus, a Greek god known for his ability to change his shape and form. The name was inspired by the incredible diversity and versatility of the Protea genus, which includes a vast array of shapes, sizes, and colors. This extraordinary variability reflects Proteus's mythical adaptability, making it a fitting name for these fascinating blooms. Proteas have been around for millions of years and are considered one of the oldest flowering plants on Earth. Their unique appearance and wide range of species have made them symbolic of diversity, transformation, and courage.

We’ve loved seeing it take center stage in our classes—bringing smiles, creativity, and a sense of wonder to all who’ve worked with it.

What a way to wrap up the year!

Our final flower design class of 2024 was nothing short of magical. This sold-out class (fully booked by mid-November!) featured holiday centerpieces with breathtaking reflexed roses, a stunning variety of flowers, and lush foliage. The room was filled with creativity, laughter, and festive spirit as we designed bouquets to ring in the holidays.

A huge thank you to Susan for joining us for her 6th flower design class—what an incredible milestone! And a special celebration for Dottie, whose return to class made the day even more special. 💕

It was such a joy to see so many familiar faces and returning guests—we’re so grateful for this wonderful community of flower enthusiasts. Here’s to celebrating the beauty of the season and the friendships we’ve nurtured along the way.

Every time we host a class ZincHouse Winery & Brewery , we think it can’t get any better—yet, somehow, it always does! 🍷 From the warm connections of an amazing group of ladies to the laughter, flowing drinks, and gorgeous designs, our wreath design class was a lot of fun.

What we love about our classes at is how they’ve become a night out for everyone! We loved seeing couples join in on the fun. One couple took the class together, crafting their own unique wreath design, while others cheered from the sidelines. Some husbands hung out nearby with friends, snapping photos of their wives mid-creation and sharing in the laughter and fun. It was heartwarming to witness such special moments 💕

We’re so grateful to ZincHouse for their stunning venue and gracious hospitality. Your coordination and courtesy truly sets the stage for these wonderful experiences. Thank you for helping us create such a special events!
