🤔❄️Do you ever wonder what teachers do on snow days??? They play outside with the baby goats, of course!

Delilah was joined this week by a new surrogate brother, Winston! 💗 They became fast friends and today, are so grateful for Grandmas sewing skills to make them fancy sweaters! 😍🍼🐐

We adopted a new baby over the weekend- she’s a house goat for now as she’s so so tiny! We know the challenges of raising a bottle baby and are cautiously optimistic that this spunky, adorable little lady will remain strong and flourish to have a healthy happy life. Right now, we are soaking in ALL of the tiny goat snuggles we can get!

🎆Happy New Year!!!! 🎉 2024 proved to be SO different than I had imagined- but, here we are, and SO excited to see what’s to come. It’s a longer watch than my usual silly videos, but with your volume on, let me share with you about my mini farm journey so far… thank you SO much for supporting me along the way! I am so grateful to all of my followers and those to come! 💗

🍎Farm life reality…. Why do we do what we do???? I can rest easy knowing that for 1️⃣2️⃣8️⃣ days we cared for these birds. We fed them twice a day, cleaned their coop, made sure they had somewhere dry to sleep, ground their feed, provided space to pasture.

👋🏼I know, not everyone wants to meet their food… but, I can feel confident in the quality of food I feed my family as well as at peace with the fact that these birds lived a great life. 💗

💸It’s not less expensive to raise your own chickens than to buy them at the store, it certainly isn’t easier…. It’s just a healthier, better quality of life for them and us. 💪🏻

❓Could we have made different choices in chicken breeds and care that may have changed our outcomes? Perhaps... I’m not afraid to learn from my experiences 🤷🏼‍♀️

🍗🐓We will have frozen, whole chickens FCFS for $2️⃣0️⃣ per 3-4 lbs chicken. Our cost for these birds was right around $14.75 per bird based on our preliminary totals

💰while $20 may seem a bit steep to some, paying ourselves 4 cents per day for the care this bird received hardly seems like a huge profit margin 🙃 So, it’s okay if you aren’t interested, but, please understand the value from our perspectives.

👋🏼I have been a little quiet on the farm page as I shift into a new school year with my students- but, I think it's time for some fall farm fun!!!🙂

Come carve your pumpkins in the pasture and let us take care of the mess! 🎃Please know that pasture carving sessions do not guarantee you a private time slot as we can accommodate up to three families in the pasture at a time. If you'd prefer your own space, we'd be happy to provide a quote for that! 🍂
