About Us
In 2001, the Scottsbluff Family YMCA was approached by the Scottsbluff Kiwanis Club with a proposal to let the organization take over the camp. The YMCA created a committee that included members from area organizations such as the Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and 4-H clubs. The committee looked at what the community wanted to see in a youth camp organization.
Since then, the YMCA built several new buildings including the Trails West Pavilion, Gordon Schaub Activity Center, Jane Fliesbach Retreat Center and a swimming pool. The original bunkhouses and Kiwanis Lodge remain and have been remodeled to fit into the needs of the camp. The buildings can be rented and used by the community throughout the year.
Trails West is beautifully designed and nestled on the banks of the North Platte River. You will find a stunning view of the Scotts Bluff National Monument. Whether you are interested in our summer camp programs, overnight lodging, holding a business meeting, hosting a family reunion or planning a wedding, Trails West is the place to be!
