It’s been a hot minute! I wanted to take a moment to re-introduce myself for my newer followers.

I’m Tessa, owner and lead planner at Tie the Knot by Tessa. I am coming up on almost 9 years of business, but I have worked in the wedding/event industry since 2011. Tie the Knot by Tessa was born out of my love for connecting with others and passion for logistics…yes, I’m actually passionate about making plans. Planning has always been a source of comfort for me. I’m clearly type A. 😉

I briefly took a step back from wedding planning in 2020, uncertain of what the future would hold. I worked a corporate job, ready to ditch the stresses that come with running and operating a business. I soon found out, that the grass isn’t always greener. I felt like my soul had left my body. I was operating on auto pilot, chasing after a paycheck and health benefits. Eventually, I left that job and started putting my focus back into wedding planning, regardless of the uncertainty.

Simply, I was made for this. I’m good at what I do, and planning events has been my creative outlet that I’m lucky enough to call a career. I have worked with over 100 couples, planning the most important events of their lives. I do not take this honor lightly. I have done events all over the US, as well as internationally. Thank the lord for google translate lol!

I look forward to continue producing gorgeous events for my clients, while offering them a peace of mind. In my free time, you can find me meandering the aisle of Home Goods and snuggling with my dog Hazel.

Coming up for some air after one of the craziest wedding months I have EVER experienced. Leading up to March, my sole focus was to keep up with back-to-back events, while maintaining my high standards in customer service and event production. March was a marathon, but I produced some gorgeous events with some incredible people. And for that, I am truly blessed.

Nicole and Mike’s wedding was special to me for multiple reasons:

1) They are good friends of mine. And when good friends trust you with your day, you do what you can to make it perfect.

2) I was also a guest, which was hard to balance, but my girl held it down, so I could celebrate, dance and convincingly lip sync to Celine Dion. Thank you, !

3) Working with on design and implementing Nicole’s work (picture # 3 😍)!

4) Seeing my friends so happy with the end result, but most importantly- just happy. Happy to be together and happy to be surrounded by the people they love the most. That’s what weddings are all about.

Okay…we need to talk about your bustle.

Bustling your wedding dress can be very complicated, so I wanted to share a few tips on how to be prepared and successfully bustle your dress without creating delays in your timeline:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Make sure someone takes a video of your seamstress explaining the bustle. That same someone, should be managing/assisting with your bustle on your wedding day.

2) Ask your seamstress what type of bustle you have. The 3 most common bustles are: American, French and Austrian. When all else fails, a google search with basic instructions on your bustle type can be helpful. Especially if that certain someone in Tip #1 has had a few drinks...the bustle will only get more challenging! Haha

3) Set aside at least 20 minutes to bustle your dress. This is typically done during cocktail hour, before your grand entrance. You don’t want your train dragging during your first dance, nor do you want guests stepping on it throughout the evening. This is why we bustle before reception (after formal photos).

4) Acknowledge that there is a strong possibility that your bustle may break. Hooks get loose. Buttons pop off. Loops can tear. This is very common and that’s okay! Just be prepared with an sewing kit or safety pins. I highly recommend for wedding day emergency essentials!
