Kaelee and Robert’s wedding was absolutely stunning! The bride’s eye for architecture shone through in their venue choices.

Their ceremony took place at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, where the bride’s uncle led a heartfelt service. Guests then enjoyed a refreshment hour before heading to the Heard Museum, where they had private access to explore its incredible art.

The night ended with dinner, dancing, and a joyful send-off—an unforgettable start to their journey as husband and wife!

Once your date, venue, and planner are set, it's time to assemble your vendor team.

Start with the core vendors:

1. Photographer
2. Caterer (if not provided by the venue)
3. Entertainment
4. Floral Design Team

Before booking, consult your wedding planner. Their trusted recommendations ensure quality vendors who deliver great service.

How to choose wisely:

Review portfolios, reviews, and online presence. Do you love their work?

Don’t let pricing be the first filter. Focus on quality and fit, then discuss costs with your planner.

Meet vendors virtually to ensure alignment.

Trust your gut. Did they make you feel valued and comfortable? If not, keep looking.

Recap:

✔️ Use your Planner’s preferred vendor list
✔️ Assess portfolios, reviews, and personalities
✔️ Discuss pricing within your budget
✔️ Meet virtually
✔️ Follow your instincts

Your wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event—choose vendors who care about it as much as you do!

"Lily & Tyler's wedding day was nothing short of incredible! Lily’s exquisite taste shone through in every detail—from the elegant decor to the stunning attire she and Tyler chose, as well as their carefully selected vendors.

The day began with a heartfelt first look between Lily and her father, bringing everyone in the room to tears. She then met her dapper groom in front of the iconic Mountain Shadows building, where they shared personal vows and captured breathtaking newlywed portraits.

Guests were welcomed with a glass of champagne before witnessing a beautiful traditional Persian ceremony, complete with a Sofreh Aghd and sugar veil.

Following a lovely cocktail hour on the terrace, guests moved inside for a delicious dinner and dessert—after the lively knife dance, of course! Lily & Tyler’s choreographed first dance was mesmerizing, and they didn’t miss a beat. All eyes were on them as they glided across the floor. The celebration continued with a packed dance floor, where Persian and American hits kept the energy high all night long.

It was truly an honor to be part of such a joyful and unforgettable celebration. Thank you, Lily & Tyler, for letting me share in your special day!" ~Planner, Alicia

“Maggie and Scott’s wedding day was an unforgettable celebration, set at the breathtaking Sanctuary on Camelback in Scottsdale. Their ceremony took place on paradise lawn, with the majestic Camelback Mountain serving as a stunning backdrop. Guests watched as Maggie and Scott exchanged vows under a floral arch that echoed the jewel tones of the day, creating a serene and intimate moment. The warm Arizona sun set the perfect scene for this special occasion, with every detail thoughtfully designed to reflect the couple’s elegance and style.

As the sun dipped behind the mountains, the celebration shifted to the ballroom for an unforgettable evening of dinner and dancing. The Ben Mallare Band took the stage, setting the tone for a lively pre-dinner dance set that packed the dance floor from the very first song. Guests were on their feet, enjoying the energetic rhythms and lively atmosphere. The room was transformed into a jewel-toned wonderland, with stunning floral arrangements and sparkling accents that complemented the vibrant colors of the evening. From the carefully curated decor to the music that kept everyone dancing all night, Maggie and Scott’s wedding was a perfect reflection of their love and attention to every detail, ensuring an unforgettable experience for all. She jokes she's the dot in 'J.Starr,' but the truth is she's so much more. April loves 'her people' fiercely and protectively. And wow, how lucky are we to be among 'her people'—not just me and my team members, but also her couples.

April puts 100% effort into everything she does. She's the first to correct incorrect grammar, drives like a bat out of hell, and is hands-down the most efficient human I've ever met.

Please join me in wishing this beautiful human a very Happy, Happy Birthday 🎂 I love you, my friend—cheers to you!

"Mary Anne and Tommy had an incredible celebration at The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, surrounded by their closest family and friends. One of the most heartfelt moments of the day was during their ceremony, where they made sure to include their five children in a special unity candle tradition. Each child had their own candle marked with their initials, and as Mary Anne and Tommy handed them out, they read the initials aloud. When Tommy reached his own candle, he said, “This one is mine, the one with the T.” One of his boys, confused, asked, “Why is yours a T, Daddy?” The crowd erupted in laughter because the sweet boy only knew Tommy as “Daddy.” It was such a perfect and touching moment that truly captured the family’s dynamic.

Throughout the day, the family lovingly referred to themselves as “Blended Blessings,” a name that perfectly represented their joy and unity. As the candles were lit, smiles filled the room, and the love and happiness shared among them were undeniable.

The reception was where the real celebration began! From delicious food to unforgettable dances, the evening was packed with surprises. There was a family dance, a surprise choreographed cousins’ dance, and live music. The kids added extra fun with light-up shoes, tambourines, and glowing headpieces.

One highlight was the faux exit that Mary Anne and Tommy planned for their kids, complete with fiber optic wands. The children got to participate before heading off to bed, but little did the couple know, Mary Anne’s parents, Mike and Anne, had planned a surprise. As the faux exit took place, fireworks lit up the sky in a stunning rooftop display. Everyone was in awe, and it was the perfect send-off for the kids before the party continued late into the night.

The entire day was a beautiful celebration of two families coming together." ~ Planner, Heather

4,450 days ago—12 years ago—I took on my very first styled shoot opportunity. Little did I know, this shoot would become the cover and a 4-page spread of a local wedding magazine, ✨️

I was 8 months pregnant with my twin girls, but I knew saying yes to this opportunity meant saying yes to my future professional dreams. A heartfelt thank you to for believing in me and to my incredible crew of dear friends—April, Melissa, and Renata—who gave their time, love, and support that day to help me push this dream forward. I love you all!

Today feels like a full-circle moment. We’re producing our very first wedding at the iconic . This venue holds such special meaning to me—not only because it served as the backdrop for my first styled shoot but also because I’ve always loved its effortlessly cool vibes. This property exudes history, love, and character, qualities I hope my company reflects as well.

It’s such a special feeling to see the seeds planted so many years ago continue to bloom.

Please join me in wishing our wedding day team much success as they bring the magic to life for Spencer & Jordan’s special day.

Keeping with the retro vibes, here’s a look back at that memorable magazine shoot that helped launch J.Starr Wedding Company forward. I’ll always be so grateful for this journey ✨🤍

01/23/2025

Getting engaged is one of the most thrilling moments in life, but it’s often followed by a wave of questions, decisions, and sometimes, stress. Today, I’m sharing some tips on how to savor the time between saying “Yes!” and booking your venue:

1. Celebrate the Moment
Take time to celebrate your engagement! This is a milestone worth savoring. Share the exciting news with your family and friends—people love hearing good news, especially in person or over the phone when possible.

2. Journal About the Proposal

Write down all the details—how it happened, what was said, where it took place, how you felt, and even the funny or awkward moments. These memories will grow even more precious with time, so capture them now while they’re fresh.

3. Share Your Engagement Story

Whether it’s photos of the proposal, the ring, or a sweet caption, share your story in a way that feels authentic to you.

4. Politely Hold Off on Answering Questions

You’ll likely get bombarded with questions like, “When’s the date?” or “Am I invited?” It’s okay to let people know you’re still soaking it all in and haven’t made any decisions yet. For now, focus on the proposal and the joy of being newly engaged.

5. Get Your Ring Sized (and Insured)

If your ring needs resizing or insurance, take care of it sooner rather than later. Yes, parting with your sparkly new ring for a few days can be tough, but it’s better than losing it permanently.

6. Tune Out the Opinions

People love sharing their wedding horror stories or unsolicited advice. Smile, laugh, and let it roll off your shoulders. Remember, this is your wedding, not theirs.

7. Daydream Freely

It’s okay to dive into bridal magazines or Pinterest and let your imagination run wild. This is your time to have fun before diving into the bigger decisions.

8. Schedule a Meeting with a Wedding Planner

Many wedding planners, myself included, offer complimentary consultations. This is a great opportunity to gain clarity and direction before tackling big decisions like budget, vision, and guest count. A good planner can help save you time, money, and stress.

“Megan and Andrew’s wedding at the Royal Palms Resort was nothing short of magical. The venue, bathed in the soft glow of candles, cast a warm and romantic atmosphere over the evening. Joy, laughter, and the unmistakable presence of love filled the air as family and friends gathered to celebrate this unforgettable occasion. The couple shared a unique and private exchange of vows in a setting that felt like a dream, with every detail thoughtfully curated to reflect their love story and the unity of their families. The sparkling lights and breathtaking surroundings provided the perfect backdrop for such a momentous day.

Adding to the magic was the Father of the Bride’s speech, celebrating the bride’s accomplishments and highlighting multiple generations of incredible doctors—a legacy of dedication and care passed down through the family. It was a privilege to witness the merging of two families and the respect, admiration, and love that resonated through the evening.

As the night drew to a close, the couple made a grand exit in unforgettable fashion. Guests lined up with sparklers in hand, lighting the way as the newlyweds walked through a tunnel of shimmering light. Their journey led them to a beautiful vintage Mustang, driven by none other than the bride’s grandparents—a touching and symbolic gesture that bridged the past with the present. It was the perfect ending to a perfect
day, with the love of family and friends guiding them into their new life together.” -Planner Lauren

I've now been working in the wedding industry (collectively) for over 18 years... hard to believe how time flies in this world.

Here are a few things I’ve learned about wedding days:

1.) Nerves and excitement are real. No matter how cool, calm, and collected someone may seem, emotions run high, and they’re all over the place. That’s why pre-planning for the least amount of stress is absolutely essential.

2.) Families and bridal parties ask a lot of questions. That’s why we, as your Planners, make it our mission to field as many of those questions as possible to protect your sanity.

3.) Someone always loses something. Yes, this is exactly why our emergency kits come to every single wedding.

4.) Time feels s u p e r slow at first, then speeds up real fast.

5.) Vendors turn into famished wild animals around dinner time, staring down the wedding planner until they’re fed.

6.) Something always happens that’s “unplanned.” With hundreds of people and details involved, it’s inevitable. But these little mishaps often turn into the most memorable and endearing stories

"Heather & Tim's vision was to transform their "favorite place" Tonto Grill at Rancho Manana into a stunning luxury celebration for their closest family & friends. The cocktail hour space was complete with a custom bar featuring their logo and their own signature drink featured on the Tonto Grill table tops during the month of May, the "Conley-Rita". Our incredible vendor team had all hands on deck transforming the space with a ghost tent adorned in twinkle lights, white fabric draping and greenery around. Each place setting was personalized for their guests and they danced the night away under the most stunning chandelier to The Hampton's Band. I am completely honored to have been a part of such an amazing celebration for some of the most wonderful people!"~ Planner, Alicia

One of the best first steps after saying, "Yes!" is creating a *wedding-specific email address*.

Here’s why:

✨ Stay Organized: Keep all your vendor contracts, RSVPs, and updates in one place.
✨ Avoid Inbox Overload: Save your personal or work email from getting buried in wedding correspondence.
✨ Easy Communication: Share your wedding email with vendors, family, and friends so everything stays streamlined.
✨ Extra Security: Once the wedding’s over, you can retire the email, keeping your main inbox spam-free.

Pro tip: Use something simple like [YourNamesWedding2025].com for easy access and a professional touch.

Planning a wedding is full of moving parts, and this small step will make the journey *so much* smoother! 🖤

"The vision for Kaitlyn and Alex's wedding was an "Outdoor Chapel," and through delicate design choices, I believe we accomplished this look flawlessly. The wood arches framed the space beautifully, creating an intimate atmosphere.

Kaitlyn and Alex's classic style, paired with the stunning florals, contributed to the elegance of the celebration. Their families were warm and hospitable, ensuring that every guest felt thoughtfully cared for.

I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of planning and designing with Kaitlyn. Thank you for the opportunity to be part of such a beautiful celebration."

01/18/2025

1. "I don't think I need a Wedding Planner."
"I think I'm a fairly organized and creative person...I can plan my wedding and whatever I can't do on my own, I have friends and family to help."
While it’s true that being organized and creative is helpful, a Wedding Planner is invaluable in ensuring that your wedding runs smoothly. Planners are experienced professionals who know how to anticipate and manage every detail, making sure your day unfolds exactly as you envision. Your family and friends are there to celebrate, not to handle logistics. A Wedding Planner takes that burden off their shoulders and ensures you and your loved ones can enjoy the day stress-free.

2. "I can't afford a Wedding Planner."
"Weddings are expensive enough, why would I spend more money hiring a Wedding Planner?"
Though it may seem like an added cost, hiring a Wedding Planner is often a money-saver in the long run. With their extensive knowledge of industry pricing and vendor relationships, they can help you avoid costly mistakes and find better deals. Plus, their experience can help you maximize your budget without sacrificing your vision, making the overall investment worthwhile.

3. "I'm afraid a Wedding Planner will take over my Wedding."
"I want our Wedding day to be our vision, not someone else's."
A Wedding Planner's job is to bring your vision to life, not take over. They are there to enhance your ideas and help you stay organized as you navigate the planning process. By guiding you through decisions and helping with the details, they allow you to focus on what matters most—enjoying your wedding day with your loved ones, without feeling overwhelmed by the logistics.

What other thoughts/fears might you have about working with a Wedding Planner?
