If you are having a high touch, experience driven wedding, hiring a wedding planner should be a top priority, but here’s a few common mistakes we see couples make.
1. Booking the venue before the planner. A planner can help make sure you have a full understanding of potential costs, how changes to design elements of the space will affect your budget, and potentially even get you some upgrades from the venue. Not to mention they can save you a ton of time researching what venues match your vision, guest count and budget.
2. Going around the planner to book a vendor. Most planners are only going to recommend the vendors they know will do the best work for your wedding, but that doesn’t mean they won’t work with other vendors too. We want to be involved with the contracting so we can understand the needs the vendor has and how those apply to the space and the other vendors involved. And again some vendors give our couples special perks but only if we are the ones initially reaching out.
3. Waiting too long to book a planner. Even if you just need a month of planner the best planners book out early and even when you don’t book full planning most planners will have tools to make your planning process easier.
